Best LED's for 2013

A51 has a pretty solid stucture, don't see them overstating their footprint... Especially to a group who so fondly knows of their lights.

2 years ago, I would have agreed with you, but companies are starting to realize the truth is a hell of a lot better investment.

The coverage claims for flowering under LEDs are usually grossly exaggerated. Now I bought my LEDs last year, and I have to say that factoring in all the costs and considering the fact that LEDs put out quite a bit of heat that can't easily be vented like an HID's heat, LEDs in 2012 just weren't cost effective. Also, if I was going to buy a large number of LEDs, I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. I have 3 of the same model LED and I like that fact that I could scavenge parts from one to repair another. But if I was buying that many LEDs, I would try out several different manufacturers and then buy more of the ones I liked after a couple of grows.

I do think LEDs will be the lighting of the future, but if I had to bet the ranch on a lighing technology today, I wouldn't go with LEDs except in veg.

Use paypal if you order from china. They accept it even though its not on their website. Just ask who ever you talk too. You are protected with pay pal.
Paypal protects you only if you purchase the item from an eBay or Paypal protected merchant. It has to have the Paypal insured logo. I assure you if you send money through pay-pal just as "send money" you wont be protected if they take the funds and split. Even eBay cant cover all their listings.

Just want you to know so you don't get into any trouble or lose any money.

I know nothing of leds really, but when I toyed with the idea of experimenting with one,I chose the solarstorm..just my 2 cents
I would love to see actual use of the solar storm and your reviews of it. Its so damn expensive but looks so sexy

lol. Yea, because I havnt been ripped off on LED's in the past 5 years... of course I have! Coverage has ALWAYS been exaggerated, since the beginning of the tech; I am saying, now, that the companies no we are not fools, seem to be making the transition to the truth.

Being that "Area 51" consistently posts on RIU, I do not see him committing business suicide, as the others have, but overstating his specs. I have received an answer to every question I have sent him/them, and have received nothing but answers fulfilled to the best of their ability, down to coverage, umoles, and Helixeon datasheets- these guys know what they are talking about, and I wouldnt see them being "stupid" and blatantly lying about their lights or specs.

As for not knowing what I am talking about, I will be purchasing 2 to 4 of their lights in about 23 days? That right bucuit? ;)

So I will let you know, what I am talking about.

I think that the "highlight" companies of the market, as of right now, are MUCH closer to their actual coverage, and wattage draw for the matter, than even 12 months ago. CLW, apollo, apache, A51, etc.

Do not be steered away from LED's because of the shit companies, look into the one's worth your time.

Look around on here, LED's produce some rock fucking hard nugs, done right.

veg maybe... as many of these companies state the max footprint of their lights for growing when in veg, not bud. for obvious reasons
I trust Area 51 because I already own their lights, and they do not exaggerate flowering footprint claims. My AF-240 does 39x39 extremely well to a maximum of 48x48. The new lights are supposed to be twice as efficient as the older series.

Hey everyone,

I have been lurking for a while on several forums reading about LEDs, I work for a major LED fixture manufacturer (our fixtures are 100% manufactured in Canada and designed for high end commercial and industrial purposes) and work on a lot horticulture (algae growing for oil production) projects but our fixtures are used by many Ivy league universities, NASA, DOD, most major oil companies. We don't sell a light for growing weed but the science is pretty simple.
The vast majority of LED manufacuters produce marketing materials that are questionable at best. If there are any LED questions you would like answered please feel free to hit me up.
I have started my first grow & built my own fixture for my own use based off of the science our engineers have completed, my knowledge of growing is limited at best and I'm here for knowledge but if I can answer any LED related questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks Kite High, I have a couple of growers that have some serious experience giving me direction but I am always looking to learn. I haven't encountered any issues with my grow yet, maybe I'm lucky but I have taken a very scientific approach to my grow and I'm at day 65 with Jack Herer in soil and she looks sugar coated now... I'm so excited for harvest
