What's up with this plant? Mag def or calcium?

This plant has been watered on a as needed basis. No nutes so far, plants in soil from a buddy's garden. SWIM plans on replace soil to keloggs patio plus or fox farm ocean mix or what ever that one is. $5 or $15' for the two different brands. Is the fox farm with it?

what do you mean by "watered on a as needed basis". That leaf die-off could be from over watering. What lighting are they under?

I water when about first 2 inches of topsoil r dry.

lights- started with 2 2700k 15 or 23 watt cfl---- and now it just has one 150 watt halogen. changed to that about three or four days ago

This guy Jack knows nothing as anyone that listens to him will find out. So don't be fooled he's a newbie on his first grow but knows everything about growing. I say this so no one loses a plant listening to him.

You've been smokin too much! Good luck with that 50/50 soil/coir grow of yours - way to give yourself problems - but hey - you know best big boy - seen loads of good advice you've given - not

That's all you can say Im not the one giving bull shit advice acting like I know everything. I never used coir before and plants are fine now so it wasn't the soil and coir mix. Find something you can say im wrong about. Not because I mixed soil and coir and had a n deficiency and ppl said it was from my mix but it wasn't. I knew it was a deficiency and not mix but I like to ask ppl to see if it could be anything else.

Halogen is just about the worst possible type of light that you could possibly use. I would put the CFL's back on and give it a light feeding.

I'm sure OP means HPS (High Pressure Sodium).

Ive heard others make this mistake.

thanks for advice everybody. But yes it is a halogen, thought the warmer bulb might have helped. when i did that it showed a quick growth spirt but nothing really continued after that. except the leaves becomig more damaged.I guess I will throw the CFL's back on until next few days when I get a decent HID.What should i go for in a new 6Wx6xLx5H ft.? watts for HPS or/and MH? soil or hydro?

I've heard and read that you want at least 100 watts per plant so I would guess a 600w in a 6x6x5 grow tent would be sufficient for 6 plants total. Not sure if there's a difference for soil/hydro, I run soil and always will, just seems better. I would personally get either a switchable MH/HPS or one of each MH for veg; HPS for flower. But I am currently vegging under a 1000w HPS seems to be doing okay; but I will eventually trade that into my flower tent and get a 1000w MH for original (veg) room. Hope that helps!

I got a 600w in a normal closet so space is about 2.5x2x8. As long as you can control temp. You could go with 1000w my opinion good luck with that leaf problem dawg

If I was a hps grower I`d take 2 600`s over 1 1000 more efficient you have a back up and more control as you can veg with just one

That plant looks like it needs the ph checking and then it needs some nutes start off at half strength

As long as it`s only ever the oldest leaves your ok better the oldest set brown then all of them burn but it does mean a little bit of npk would not go a miss.

To the OP: Looks like the plant needs to be fed.

I have been running 50/50 FFOF and coco coir for over 6 months and have had zero problems and great growth. Trick is watering at 6.0ph with a balanced fert program and all is good and green.

Everything in my 4x4 under my 1000w is in a 50/50 mix
