"Sleeper" strains: Which cheap/ strains turned out to be unexpectedly good?

Most of my "sleeper" strains have been from reggie/brick weed. If you got the time and room, you can find the pot of gold in it. Some were better than that great white shark I brought down a few weeks ago.

I was really asking about commercially sold seeds, but I'm with you on this one.

I've never seen a plant grown from a Mexican "brick" seed that was as good a truly high-end commercial strain, but I've seen some pretty awesome plants come out of seeds pulled from ugly-looking schwagg.

We're talking tough fast-growing heat-resistant sativa-dominant hybrids, that are better than a lot of commercially available crosses. You could definitely pay a lot more for a lot worse genetics, that's for sure

The real problem here is that you never quite know what you're getting, in terms of low long it will take to flower, overall plant structure, etc. Its a bit of a crap shoot.

FUCK YEAH!!!!!

oh do i ever miss my mid 90s bagseed collection! i had a bunch of different mexican commercials and a full range of hybrids to one flat out skunk.i named the top smoking, even in brick from, strains red (panama), gold (columbian), purple (haze) using the sacks i'd bought in the past to color code my best and i REALLY loved the strain i called "spicy" as it had the same delicious crushed red pepper taste as original kali mist and a very impressive high even in brick form. i only had 2 beans of that. the red in particular stretched like a motherfucker with razor leaves. i bet with some love, that shit would have kicked so much ass.

i grew everything, about 20 strains total, under a pair of shop lights and once i started taking leaflet trim, i got addicted because the daily trim i took off EVERYTHING for a couple months until everything stressed out and died off was way better than all of the afghanicrap that STILL pollutes the north east. if you take sprouting leaves, you can get smoke almost as potent as bud and definitely stronger than fan leaves. i just crave getting high so much that it was impossible for me to resist the lure of that which i'd been denied for 10 years. fuck any bitch that doesn't approve either as that leaflet trim was WAY better than any "are you fucking crazy? $40 an eigth afghani" because it fucking got me high. then again, unless it's really bad 10 minute headache dirt weed, i'd STILL rather smoke brick than any stoner bud no mater how big, sticky, or dense it is because a mild high takes a shit on any no high stone for me.

i'm totally feeling that bagseed comment! i'm just glad that once i got my first real grow & breeding session out of the way last winter i can finally calm down and let my gear bud out, but i also try to make allowances for something to pick at too like i did with the masterkush autos that i grew just for here and now smoke. as i've just told my dealer to fuck off last week, i'm back to having nothing to smoke except that which i grow myself, so i'll have to set aside something to pick at for sure.

Main reason I've had good luck with brick/reggie is cause I'm close to the line and I see the bricks when they are still fresh. I probably got a coffee can's worth of hand selected brick seeds in my room. Great for the outdoor, but shine when brought inside and spoiled rotten. Lol.

Hydro grown brick weed is sometimes good enough you can slap a name on it and still sell it! I still have people asking me about the Roadhouse Herb.

Ministry of cannabis, Zensation and carnival are very good they don't have much of a write up on there beans,I got 5 of each and had 5&4 strike rate. Very good results i did them as an indoor outdoor grow ( under a 1000w for extra hours of light during veg) in 15L pots. Very robust and had to stake lower branchs dew to bud wieght, as for the smoke can only say this had a smoke of the Zensation with the neighbor all was good, he left went home 10 mins later there was a knock at the door there was the neighbor, I asked him what's up he looked at me puzzled said sorry and went home again. Take from that what you will

Emerald Triangle didn't hermied on me, actually she's the best looking plant. Iam growing a comparative grow the Mastodon kush (ET) and the Larry OG (Cali conn). The Mastodon looks spectacular, don't know though the quality of the final product, but looks quite promising.
Alao the Mastodon costs half of the price than Larry does.

I been growing for 30+ yrs and the biggest surprise out of beans I ever got was 1) G-13's Pineapple Express & 2) Barneys Farms Phatt Fruity......they can be compatibly be grown together as height, veg time, bloom time are all spot on within a day or two, the smoke was/is nothing over the top but it certainly was NOT bunk weed either but the yield was over the top, surprised the ever loving shit outta me...what a money maker. The Phatt dictated the nute intake as it couldn't handle the nutes as good as the PE but 4lbs 5.25oz of pruned, dried smoke-able bud out of 6 plants indoors caught my attention. I actually kept a photo journal it was so good.

biggest surprise for me was probably g13 labs diesel.. it's not the raw diesel they're selling now, was simply called diesel and was a fem, a freebie from the tude a few years back..

i wasn't expecting much of anything from it, but i really was blown away by the taste and smell and high of it..

their super skunk was another really kick ass skunk strain.. it was some straight up dead ass fucking skunk smell for sure..

everything i've grown from g13s has by far bypassed my expectations for sure.

ya id like to know how much light you used to hit nearly 4 and a half lbs......as for the strain i that surpassed my expectations..id say white label white skunk..cheapest seeds around i think i paid 22 dollars for a ten pack just to see if seeds off the net were legit..they grew uniform and not a single problem and the finished product was killer compared to some strains ive paid 50-80 dollars for!!

I am close to Yuma and I was getting very good brickweed a year and half ago before I started growing. It was not pressed as tight as usual and was very green. Looked like indoor weed.
OZ was 90, which is a great price. My connect is still getting it.

I was curious about what he was paying and where that stuff is coming from but he did not know.

Are they growing that indoors? The beans make short, quick finishing indicas. I also heard they are getting three outdoor crops a year now with quick finishers.

Full blown males aren't herms dude. The reports of the males from fems were all Attitude freebies, which Attitude handles opening packs and separating the beans. I think that makes it pretty obvious that attitude fucked up and mixed regs. And a year ago the only grows online of ET shit was mine.
And mine :) still growing ET fems and still hermie / male free

I would seriously doubt its indoors. Thats alot of time/money spent for indoor growing to sale for 90 bucks an oz. There would be virtually no money at all doing it that way.

got some kc brains kc36 im very impressed for the price i havent grown before but my 2 frends have i got some tips from em and now thair amazed at my results 2x 4-foot and one 5-foot in a week ish of 2 months im doing better than his big bud , and lots better than some cheezy bag seeds

I agree however that does not mean it is not happening.
That herb may have only been on the market for a short time because I quit buying when I learned to grow.
The weed was different almost everytime I purchased from him.

What is the price per pound near the border? I suspect he (my old connect) was buying a couple pounds at a time and probaly paying around 300 to 500 per pound, but I am just guessing
