So... new mass shooting in the US today. This one at a Sheik temple. It appears that some red neck thought they were Muslims (not that it would have been ok if they were). Is anyone else sick of this?

Media, on both sides, is making sure that we all hate each other. Its getting worse. We are no longer a society that is capable of being civil. Its time to do something about guns. I'm not saying we need to get rid of guns. But something has to be done. This clearly isn't working.

Listen.. How about we make cars illegal too? Of course not right? You value the freedom they deliver even though they kill thousands and thousands every year.. You see, living in a truly free society, there are certain inherited risks involved. And to be truly free, free from a oppressive government, you must have an armed citizenry.

what a touchy subject. I simply said that I'm sick of seeing mass shootings. Is there anything that can be done, short of taking everyone's guns away, to stop this type of stuff from happening. I've already been told to listen... and to fuck off...

It is sickening. 2nd ammendment rights are however very important. If more private citizens excercised them we would have more criminals apprehended and less victims of violent crime. This incident should show that government can't protect you, buy guns.

Yes go buy guns and ensure you are protected.

and i simply said stop trying to obstruct my right to own weaponry and to fuck off.
I never said I wanted to try to obstruct your right to own weaponry... so... you fuck off.

I certainly would like to obstruct the rights of these people who have done these horrible things. How can we weed them out?

Obviously religion is far more dangerous than guns, lets work on regulating and banning that first.

society is crap... so we should all own guns and bring them to church, the movie theaters, malls, bookstores... ?

What if I don't want to live in the wild west?
Possesing a legal firearm is hardly the wild west. Do nothing if you wish and continue to place yourself in danger by taking unnecessary risks and not steps to protect yourself. This is all very simple. Would you rather see the shooters killed or innocents killed. Theres a choice. If you value your life take steps to protect it. The government cant pay armed guards to follow us all around.

Not so good man,...

In Texas, this week, a murderer was shot dead by an armed civilian. The shooter had already murdered somebody and was on the lose. The local law enforcment officials praised the man for preventing further mayhem.

Ill look for the story and add here

there are a few legal firearms in my house. My gay partner owns them. They were his fathers. They are all locked in the gun safe. One of them is loaded. I know which one... in case anyone comes into my house. Its a totally different situation when I am out in society... where, IN AMERICA, everyone should be civil.

I completely agree. Selective restriction sucks. It only provides a springboard for the wrong way to do it imo, which is to restrict harder. cn

Further restricting access to arms will not help the problem.

The most effective approach to dealing with mass shootings by crazy homicidal bastards is to shoot them, then and there.

Period.

History has proven, time and time again, that citizens who do not have access to arms WILL eventually suffer far worse crimes at the hands of their own government than ANY criminal element could ever imagine.

WWII Germany
Soviet era Russia
Kmehr Rouge cambodia
Communist china
North Korea
Communist Cuba

And on, and on, and on.........

Prohibition FAILED with alcohol.
Prohibition FAILED with "drugs".
Prohibition has FAILED with firearms, and the issue will only get WORSE if further restrictions are attempted.

Not too long ago, even the right to defend one's house with a gun was being challenged. We're finally getting to a point where states with restrictive carry laws are in the minority. I'd like that trend to continue, and that requires my fellow citizens to please, please not fall for the idea that we can restrict gun crimes into nothingness. Jmo. cn
