people are just lazy. they dont care.
all my life, i sought out information, read, researched on my own. even if i didnt do the homework, i knew everything that was on the test. As a kid I read constantly, still do, watch learning channels and what not.
People just dont want to to put the effort in their kids, and themselves. Like seriously, people always ask me how I know so much stuff... They say Im like a walking encyclopedia. No, Im not, I have a good memory and I love to learn. Plus in my childhood I had people like my dad and grandma making me learn, making me do work above my grade level. It paid off in standardized test scores, always scored the the upper regions of advanced.
The whole test system in school is fucking kids over in school. It became about being able to regurgitate information in a 50 minute test period. No abstract learning or room for debate, unless you took honors classes. And god help you if you ever wanted to discuss literary themes, politics in america, etc. in a normal class. The kids in there would harass the teacher and the students who tried to do that. Basically the youth are apathetic about learning and the adults want to test the shit out of them to make them learn, and combined it ruined alot of the kids i went to school with. Seriously, you'd be surprised how many people who dont know who hitler is, where greece is on a map, etc.
