First what nutes do you use? How often do you clean your rez? If you dont use organic nutes, you need to take a bucket, fill it with tap water, 20ml of h202/peroxide per gallon. Take your plant and aggitate the roots above the bubbles to get that slime off. Your rez temps are mostly to blame, along with the concetration of nutes you added to the rez. Again, if you dont use Organic nutes, then you can add h202 to the rez. 10ml per gallon is safe untill she starts to sprout new roots. Change your water once a week, and sanitize EVERYTHING with diluted bleach. Let us know..
wow i dont really wanna cut the roots off, they just hit there growth spirt. my water temp dont pass 74 i have digital meters hooked up on wall for tds, ph and tempThats not good your water temp might be to high or maybe light is getting in your res. Looks like mine before it got worst , i had to cut all that off. Good Luck!
i have 2 6" air stonesAn airstone in your reservoir will help.
as i type i am filling a new container that has been triple cleaned. would it be a good idea to run it for a day for a flush or redo my last mixYea I agree an airstone will help. Give it another day or so, you'll see some new growth. Those roots will most likely die, they look kind of bad. Try to keep your temps at about 68. When you get in the 70's and 80's you start developiing issues without other helpful addatives. Bennies are great for dwc, in helping to prevent unwanted issues. Light will def have an impact on slime and root rot production, but if you keep a clean rez and low temps, root rot dont stand a chance it seems.
Your roots are healthy. What you see there is slime (algae) build up. I can see it in the first picture around your reservoir. To eliminate it you need to keep your reservoir colder (62-66) and you should probably be adding a small amount of hydrogen peroxide (5mL per gallon) or hygrozyme.
Thanks. This is the only setup that had that issue. I keep hearing bennies....what is this?? Back on track now my AK47's are nice and healthy again. If your using dwc, hygrozyme works well for rez with high temps. Bennies are good too, you should look into how to brew them. Most ppl say 5 ml of h202, but i always use 10 and have no issues. If im cleaning the roots, I use a stronger solution of h202. Im glad everything is looking better my friend.
Thank you have heard that a few times and was wondering.bennies = "beneficial microorganisms" cn
