Effects of Sativa (high THC, low CBN/CBD):

hey guys.
is there any possible way of determining a plant's genetics while doing a bag seed grow?
mine seems to have a mixture of both sativa (in the shape of the leafs) and indica in the way it's growing (bushy and somehow compact)
thanks :)

you can only do that one of two ways and only 1 truely works. You can have your canabanoid levels tested in finished product (the one that works) or you can just guess/assume by effect using the chart OP put up as well as looking for tell-tale signs in the growth (wide leaves, short squat growth, central stalk etc) that one isn't by any means 100% accurate. I grew bag seed for many years and most of what you're going to get is going to be close to a strain that is known an your chance of sexual dysfunction goes way up in my experience. it's usually a hermie that makes the seeds you get before it's a breeder that had pollen get loose.

Can you walk me and everyone else through a test from cannalytics? Speakng for myself I'm very interested but forums are about as far out as I stick my head for the most part. You know, think paranoid anti-gov hippy who wants to keep the seed banks claims in check and see where I'm at. Mail in a gram? Drop box? I'm way into it for 60 bucks and a positive review-even from my nemisis Bob.

I'd have to call them..it's changing. I'd been taking it to Capital City caregivers (a Dispensay, now closed) they subbmitted it for you..3 days or so printed report ready to pick up. Can't mail a sample of the med..violation of fed law..sample has to be "hand delivered".

The rule used to be no direct submissions from growers. Had to be accumulated at the dispensary. They may have changed that now due to the dispensaries closing.

Test reults showed most, but not everything of "big" value/

Mold present or not
Pesticides present or not
bugs present or not

Those categories had "standards" one earwig leg wouldn't fail you, nor would one mold spore..

Cannabanoids showed COMBINED thc, total cbd and cbn. That's enough to give ya a good idea of energetic or narcotic, pain killer or mood raiser.. Better tests can break down thc into thc, thcv,thca...which really helps if your looking for a pureish Sativa.

Traverse City area has a lab that can break down everything. Awful long drive for me.

This link will get you to capital city site...they still have some test results posted that you can see.

Just noticed they show thcv on this example..must have added that after my last sample was checked.

WE've had our spats but now you've dropped some seriously useful knowledge on so I wave my white flag....as long as you're not full of it. :)

It's all good. I'm pro testing, simply so the patient can know what they are buying. Quality/strength of meds has nothing to do with appearance.

Look at that test result for "morning glory" 10% total cannabanoids...not real potent.....be pretty disappointed if I ponied up good money for that. Some of everything, but not much of anything in that test result. Not a good Indica OR Sativa, at least as grown by that particular grower. Never grew "morning glory" but some one other than the submitting grower, could hopefully get a little more "something" out of it.

Can you see how a test result should directly effect the dollar value of the meds? A med with great "Bag appeal" shouldn't be priced higher then a med with high medicinal value that doesn't look as nice. Purple bud looks neat..how's it gonna work?

Here is Morning Glory's description...think this sample reached potential? Not even close at 10% combined cannabanoids. Pretty good example of why I don't care about the Name of the Strain..don't mean squat. Great genetics mean nothing if the guy can't grow.

MORNING GLORY/Barney’s

Morning Glory was the winner of the 2002 Cup for Best Strain of Marijuana in a Coffeeshop. It was developed by the world-famous Barney’s Coffeeshop in Amsterdam, who also won the Best Coffeeshop award at the same Cup. This sativa/indica mix is a cross between true-breeding Hawaiian Sativa/Afghani X Shiva Skunk. Huge buds form on long stems over a 12-week flowering period. It’s a good producer, with a strong, soaring sativa head and the thump of a good indica, an all-round good high. Morning Glory seeds go on sale May 1. Find it at Barney’s, Haarlemerstraat #98-102, 1013 EW Amsterdam, Netherlands; phone, (011) +31-20-625-9761; e-mail, [email protected]. Read a good history of Barney’s at coffeeshop.freeuk.com/ACDfrmGu.html.

Another interesting article. This covers Trichome coverage and potency.

Basically says that the number of trichomes isn't as important as what's IN the trichome. Sparkling thrichome covered buds can fool you.

Simply put, poor growing conditions can yield massive trichome coverage..but that doesn't mean those trichomes have any good stuff in them.

Trichome coverage is an indication that the med MAY have high value..not that it WILL have high value. Another reason I advocate testing.

Notheren labs in gaylord can test it i think they charge $60. a good indaca sativa hybrid should do the trick. if you want to cover all he basses.
