yield of 1000w hps?

I gotta agree with you. I'll never get air-cooled hoods again. (Or Sun Systems. They are built cheap as hell) Open Hood from now on. You wouldn't believe how much light that glass eats. I even replaced it with a high light transmission photo glass, and still lost about 10%. Those Sun System hoods are way over priced for what you get. I'll try some other open hoods in the future. The cops have those sun system lights now, and they're welcome to them.
I heard that the glass takes away from your yield. but without the lenz it gets way to hot . I try to keep my lenz clean but its a never ending battle

Shit, before I got those, I kept the lights about 12" to 14" above 'em anyway. Any closer than that and I REALLY lose out on coverage. Maybe I needed to have six in 2 rows of 3?

And you KNOW what a pain in the ass they are to clean.

1000watts hps = 6x6 grow space

how well you do in that space is usually determined by a combination of research, aptitude and experience

you can extend that space with use of a light mover if you are confident enough in your ability to take advantage of sucha tool

I wish I could keep the lenz off im about 15 inches off the plants with the lenz off I feel there would be sum heat stress. what do you think? I think 3 rows of two would be better

I dunno, the temp at the tops was around 95, ambient room temps were around 80. I had a lot of AC going on and 3 20" Dayton oscillating fans blowing across the tops. My main worry was bleaching, but it was never an issue.
Odor was a problem with temps at the plants that high. You could smell it way down the driveway some days, then I got my carbon filter and fans. That helped a whole lot.

half a gram per watt so half a kilo, if it goes right, any more that 0.5gm/watt and you are doing well.

I dont understand the 'pound per lamp' rule. Lamps come in different wattages. According to this rule, a 1000W light will produce a pound while two 600W's will yield two pounds!??

The rule I learned was:

1/2gm per watt is easy
1gm per watt if everything goes right
1+gm per watt if you really know what you are doing.

The yield you get depends greatly on the strain you are growing and your cultivation method - hydro, scrog etc.

I have pulled 1lb from my 600WHPS. I don't do that on every grow. If you are just growing for personal use, 600W will easily make more than you need. Yield isn't everything.

I use a 1000w HPS in a 5x5 tent. With 6 plants i typically get around 1.5lbs, (about 4 oz per plant). That is with a longer veg time of 4-5weeks.

hello everyone! i was just wondering about how much i will yield off 16 plants under a 1000w hps? i just recently bought one and i'm curious
most of my grows were about 16 - 18 plants (soil) under 1000 watt. i could pull up to 25 OZ and as little as 16 oz per grow, depending on genetics, length of veg, how lazy i was, etc.

i'm using a 600 now, and i pulled 16 to 17 oz each grow, over the last few grows. doing 18 plants.

@BCCannabis & Fatboy: Those are nice yields!

It's my understanding that in general the best yields in gm/watt come from scrog/sog hydro grows.

I do soil with LST or mini scrog screens.

my first grow under the 1000 watt, i got 8 oz. the last grow was 24! practice, practice, practice!

i've done scrog and sog and twisted the hurd and supercropped (all variations of the word) and did one failed hydro grow. i'm VERY lazy, i mean damn! i found my best yeilds came from tieing them down, 2 or 3 times. they'd be about 2 to 3 foot tall (untied they'd be 4 to 6 foot) but i never had any height restrictions. SOG is a royal pain in the ass. here are 45 seedlings (something like that) in a 5 x 5 tent. i ended up flowering 20 of them. if i had to feed 40 plants all through flower i'd be highly annoyed! i'm retired. screw work! :)

A pound a light is simple.. if your not getting a pound a light.. its not worth running 1000's .. go to something smaller till you get your skills honed in... I pulled 1.5 lbs per light.. and thats in soil running 6+ strains.. DEF not optimal .. with a decent hydro setup and a good strain .. 2 lbs a light is reachable :)

call me old school. I just top and top and top and super crop and flower 9 monsters

soil or hydro?
i often grow so many because i'm looking for a mum but i would love to just grow a few 4 oz yeilders instead of 16 or more. i used to experiment a lot and spend a lot of time fussing over the plants, but i've pretty much been on automatic for over 10 years. i've been doing this for a long time and after awhile it's like UGH, i have to trim another crop! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK! i think i'm jaded! :)

i've been reading some threads, and i'm motivated to expend some energy on my current vegging crop. time to do some serious tieing down. i haven't topped since my first few grows. i FIMed a few times too! lol

i have 63 plants under 7k hps. i tryed the tieing down just gets to crowded and too much time. I think a pound a light is a good yield. but from what im hearing from hellraiser30 hes pulling a p off off each 600 in the ebb n grow buckets

NICE! man that's a lot of work! yeah tieing down that many is crazy although my canopy is often just a tangled mess of branches from various plants. it's messy but so am i! :)

i can easily get a pound a light on my 600 but i'm always feeling inadequte because some folks pull so much more per plant than me. as is, 16 OZ per grow, 3 times a year leaves me with way too much pot. YEP, my current problem is, i'm growing too much! how funny is that? :) if i get busted i don't want to have to explain why i have 16 oz in the fridge and 18 plants in flower. they wouldn't understand that it truly is mine all mine!

sounds like alot of weed but the cops dont understand people smoke a ounce a day. I have friends that smoke it like a pouch of tabaco. so really your tunning thru a qp a week you need that 16 in the fridge and sum on deck

it's an embarrasment of riches! :)
i'm smoking 3 oz per month! i'm retired so it's easy to do but it's too much. i am going to cut down to 2 grams per day and see how that is. i find myself smoking out of of habit as opposed to wanting to be a bit higher, and the next thing i know i'm zonked instead of just being nicely buzzed. such a problem!
