Thanks for the link to the bug site Odlaw - I'll have to check at Bunnings and see if any of the f-wit retards that work there know whether they stock them - unlikely that I will find any intelligent lifeforms in Bunnings though.

I don't need bugs for my "grow" but my Fig trees suffer severley from scale infestations.

Odlaw and grumpy, you can also just go to a local park with a rose garden. Aphids love roses, and ladybugs love aphids. I have a park with a huge rose garden not far from here, and just take the kids over and give them a few dollars for a few ladybugs.
We have also spotted several pupa on the underside of rose leaves, they are great because they dont fly away and will hatch in a few days in the tent. And I havn't had any issues with the light yet, and I dont have a cool tube, so I hope it doesn't happen, they are so cool to watch patroling the plant for any nasties.

here is a photo of the Magic Bud with the fan leaves removed - each of the mini-colas was around 5 inches in length but the buds were very leafy (and sugary) - looking at the photo again and comparing it to my nearly done L.S.D. ScrOG, I think that the L.S.D. yeild will be much much better - buds are far denser and no where near as leafy.

110328 MB fan leaves removed.jpg

The Magic Bud is advertised as a 7 to 8 week flowerer, I harvested after 54 days of 12/12 lighting with trichomes just starting to turn amber, could have easily left her another week (maybe longer) but if I delay one plant I suffer a traffic jam as I seem to always have 2 or 3 grows at different stages that need to be attended to.
Then again, criticise the Magic Bud all I want, the fact is that shit has fucked my head for the last month and it's no where near finished yet.

I can delay plants a little if I really want to but I wanted to get the L.S.D. flowering so the Magic Bud was chopped dead on time.

The L.S.D. will be allowed to take her time to finish - I just defoliated my Tangerine Dream to slow it down until the L.S.D. is done.

Hey there Skiz mate....

like i said in the first post its just a fuck around idea (i was bored and it was raining on sunday), but i have noticed after 2 months of running my res with the clay balls that no matter how much washing and agitaing you do to the clay balls they still after getting wet and drying out leave a brown powdery residue, i have washed them over 20 times with full 100-200L flushes and i still have crap developing down the bottom of my res. so this is just a cheap quick way (im a steel fabricator) to filter water. there is not too much good putting a sock over the pick up of the pump because as WE ALL now it that E+F systems the drain runs back down the pump inlet, so the backflow has all the residue with it, and so the pump filter sock actually does two fist's of fuckall IMO. My table/bed when washed has a lot of fine clay residue on the bottom so i dont want my roots sitting in this, plus it stains them that colour and makes it hard to distinguish root and slime disease

......does that answer you mate?

Hi there tricka, just wandering did you flush them clayballs out before using them, took me forever with the hose and a collinder cleaning them all bit by bit until the water ran clear, and I havn't had any probs with any more brown residue. Or is there any chance dust might be coming in from somewhere?

yeah OG i flushed them real good, i also added some nitric acid to the first few wash (just pH down for anyone that doesnt know) like i said i have flushed them with 100-200L each flush, over 20 times... tho i did agitate it everytime, i wanted to clean them fuckers real well. Dare i say it OG but take ya plants out of ya clay table and empty it out and you will be suprised how much residue is left in the bottom of the bed.

And as for FOD coming in, nup! i run filters on all entry and exit points....im just OCD for cleanlyness with plants, and putting the bong upto my mouth

Sure does :)

Seems like an interesting idea actually.......o so that brown shit in my res that i plamed my other chems for was actually from clay ay. Well fancy that lol.

Just nuke the fucking water with hydrogen peroxide (the 50% stuff not this pussy 2% lol) and your roots will be fine :) That said i like to do one week on and one off or do one day hydrogen and the rest of the week enzyme. So one week you run with H2O2 but no enzyme, then switch in the second week. Or you clean your res out and use H2O2 and wait the day or two (it says reapply every 2-3 days so im assuming the [conc] would be low enough) and then use your zyme then.

Just my 2cents that probs wont help but meh it might lol.

O on a side note, i got my water heater for my cloner and yes you were right 18-20 was the range i was told too.

If you use hygrozyme you dont have to worry about root rot. I think it is $45.00 a liter but it is well worth the peace of mind. If you research hygrozyme you will hear nothing but good things!
