Im asking a question for a friend of a friend, he needs help with his grow...ill let him take it from here:

I am having problems with spider mites ...
They have been going through like little soldiers
i have used a few products that just control them but they keep coming back>>>
it hasn't gotten too bad on the leaves, only a few show spots although they are all over the pots and the dirt.

I have researched and i wanted to find out more opinions.
Whats the best product to kill them?
What just controls them?
Avid
floramite
sns-217
neem
azamax

if any help with some good recipes for getting rid of these cridders
it would help extremely..

---(i just read about mosquito dunks /soak them in the water that you feed the plants with..it is supposed to kill the eggs and larvae in the dirt )
---(hot shot pest strips)
---(rosmary extract)
any help would be very much appreciated ...thanks

Lady bugs are the best product against spider mites (during veg)
If during flowering it's predatory mites you want. As for those chemicals you want to use. I'd advise against it.

Neem oil is effective as a knockdown, but will not eradicate. Some people will use a systemic while in early veg, but I don't.

Neem oil and diatomaceous earth are the way to go. Spray the whole plant with neem and dishsoap then put the earth on the soil

My other personality wants to say something so here she/he goes...

Ladybugs as the other guy up there said are the best and they ship them right in the mail..

here is another personality...

and you dosent like to look at ladybugs, right?

dawn detergent.

4 tablespoons per quart.

spray the leaves over and under. Hit the stem at the base real good.
do the grow medium also.

repeat once-twice per week to control them.

predatory mites for sure. you can get 1000 for $120 and say good bye to your little friends. plus they stay in the garden and keep them from ever coming back or coming in from your clothes. stay away from those chemicals. if you cant eat it before applying it, you shouldn't use it.

Well ive just knocked the shit out of them with a dilution of neem. So now i need to kill the larva in the soil, what's the best product for that? mosquito dunks? I've heard they are great.:-?

And AVID says it eradicates, but then says it's not a systemic killer. WTF is up with that contradiction? Does anyone know of anything that is a systemic killer?

and thanks a lot for the help:blsmoke:

There's alot of them out there. Bayer Corp makes several. The only problem is that it stays in the plant for awhile. They suggest 6-8weeks after application before harvest. That gives you a very small time window to hit unless you have a sativa that will flower for 10 weeks. I figure if they say 8, 10 is better.

I like SM-90, but I've never had a _serious_ infestation before..

EDIT: Also, Hot Shot No Pest Strips are okay, but were never enough to get rid of them on their own.

I have effectively used azatrol for most pests (including spider mites)...its stronger than neem. I have used einsteins oil, but the azatrol is the real deal.

@Soup: I don't see how the pest strips could be bad unless they off-gas. Most systemics are either diluted and fed or simply sprinkled on the soil then watered. I've looked at the dunks but haven't come to a conclusion as to whether I want to try them or not.

@Ruiner: How is azatrol in regards to residue or contaminants? I've read a little on it but not alot yet. Is it synthetic?
