Well The Big Day Has Arrived

I'm glad now The Dems can actually point the finger at the Rupukes who started this mess
that's the ticket. blame it on the republicans, blame it on bush, blame it on them gun toting-bible thumping righties. blame it on anything but the decades of big government waste and ever growing culture of entitlements that really put us here. it's the same crap that the liberal establishment and its lackeys have been spouting for as long as i can remember.

I'm not saying that the Tea Party agenda won't work over a longer period of time. I am saying that when Obama couldn't turn the economy around in two years, people soured on him. How much time will the Tea Party have before people sour on them too?
we didn't expect the messiah to turn it around overnight. all we required was some sign that improvement was being made. instead we've gotten nothing but platitudes, an increasingly hostile business environment and a new batch of taxes and fees. brak and his crew have industry running scared, holding onto their capital and shipping every job they can to friendlier climes.

it doesn't take a boom to satisfy the unruly mob, just to hear businesses say they are going to place their assets into employment is enough to pick up our spirits. we know we can weather any storm, but we mutiny when the captain insists on sailing away from port as the clouds darkens.

Despite what NOW says, men and women are different. As such, they gravitate to different occupations. Not many women out in the oil patch. And men don't neglect their careers by taking time off when their children are born.

Nature makes the sexes different, not Republicans.

But Uncle Barack would change that wouldn't he?

Now, the repukes/teabaggers will have some direct ownership of the economy. Let us see what transpires. I'll wager they will have no positive effect, and probably a negative effect on the economy. Now in 2012 there will more than likely be a huge surge to the left once again. If not, then after 4-6 years of conservative control, less taxes and less job creation, (AS we've seen with the Bush tax cuts, they did not produce jobs but actually created job losses) The pendulum will again swing left, big time. I doubt the repukes can put forward a ringer for the 2012 election. Let me say, Jeb Bush would be a great choice, the Bushes are billionaires and well liked in conservative circles. He may well be able to defeat Obama with all the outside cash coming in from foriegn countries. The foriegn takeover of America without firing a shot, looking very likely in the near future, well OK, if it hasn't already happened.
Hey there genius, now there's even more of a chance for gridlock with a republican house and democratic senate. The odds of anything getting done are slim and none. At least now you liberals will be able to point the finger at the republican controlled house. This actually totally works in the dems favor because it's hard to blame someone when your party controls both house and senate and the white house. Well played!

Weren't you just fearmongering yesterday?:?
yesterday was a jab at rand paul's stated position on civil rights. i don't honestly think we will see the return of segregated lunch counters, i do however like to point out how rand paul does nt oppose the mechanisms that allow segregated lunch counters to exist. fearmongering is your weak attempt at labeling it what it is not. it was a jab.

as for today, again a jab at the righties like johnny who talk about "obama's destructive agenda" and others i know that say we will soon be a third world country, the fall of the republic, being slaves to china, and a dark age falling upon the world (you know, the true fearmongerers).

nice attempts though. weak, but nice. :)

I knew it was a jab. Mine was a jab in response to your jabs.;-)

I'm no fearmonger but all of those things you mentioned, are they completely out of the realm of possibility. We are in uncharted territory here so nobody really knows what happens when a country like the U.S. defaults on it's debt. Maybe we are entering a dark age and just aren't aware of it yet. I don't see us slipping into the 3rd world but maybe just the 2nd world. Humans have a really bad tendency to not learn from the lessons of history and have repeated the same mistakes over and over and over. Most of those things you mentioned, while they are highly unlikely, are possible. Now look! You've got me fearmongering! Thanks Buck!:cuss:

anything to take a stab at obama, eh? you are like an automaton, you just can't help yourself.

i actually agree with you...men and women ARE different. but the lily leadbetter fair pay act gives women who have been pay discriminated AT THE SAME JOB as their male counterpart more time to seek justice for any pay discrimination they faced.

but i forgot, you turn this one into a statute of limitations argument (which it is not based on how the bill works) and then say you only support longer statute of limitations on murder.

i'm sure you would tell your daughter the same thing if she faced pay discrimination.

and i'm sure you know why women "neglect" their careers....they have a VAGINA. perhaps you have heard of this magnificent organ.

you said that, not me. i never said the profit motive was evil. trying to put words in my mouth is your folly.

what i was getting at is that dropping someone who has paid their premiums for years and years and years based on any conceivable technicality once they get sick, or even before, is EVIL.

if you are in the business of insuring my health and wellbeing as well my family, i am going to expect and DEMAND that you treat me and my family fairly.

i never said anything about bankrupting coal, what you say is a 'manufactured' case for cimate change, or the competitiveness of alternative energy.

what i was referring to was the part of the american recovery and reinvestment act that basically turned the dept of energy into what is more or less a large venture capital fund for making smarter, alternative energies more viable within our lifetimes (while leveraging those evil private sector dollars at a nifty rate, to boot).

obviously yet another obama plot to destroy america, right aong with paying my daughter fairly and making my insurer behave ethically.

No one is saying they can't because the Constitution says they can. What many are saying is they should give our sensibilities the same consideration they demand from us.
all they 'demand' is to be treated fairly, like normal human beings who want to worship peacefully. treating all muslims as terrorists and saying they shouldn't build somewhere tat they have every right to so as to not offend your delicate sensibilities means they should be able to do the same in reverse, which they do not.

besides, your contempt for muslims is well known. does not surprise me coming from a texan, where 25% of the population thought obama was a muslim when they went to vote in 2008. gem of a state. in the running with az as most regressive state in the union.

yes, truth and facts are fine. but your OPINION that obama's agenda is destructive, especially when it is consistent with these "china will own us", "the republic will fall", and "america will soon be a third world country" types, does make you sound like someone who does not get it - these are hard times, not end times. take a breather. chill.

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!! John Stewart said that at the rally the other day! lmfao!!!!!! In fairness, I don't think John has a crystal ball so how does he really know we aren't in "end times"? I'm not arguing that we are because I don't necessarily believe it but how does he know? :?

could be end times (and yes, i was quoting stewart).

the point i took from it though, the same tone that his rally was based on, was that we are tough. we will get through it, no matter what 'it' is. but we will not get through it so easy if we keep demonizing one another, making each other enemies, and refusing to compromise. i was listening to him on npr the other day (typical liberal, i know) and he made some really good points. i mean, we have been through a freaking civil war. we'll get through this.

edit - listen to the interview here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130704771&ft=1&f=1138

that said, i will probably end up demonizing someone on some thread before tonight is over. irony, meh

Nope. never heard of it. :-P

But, then there's that pesky reality thing again. A cashier Starbucks will not make the same salary as a Longshoreman.

Nor should she.

You didn't say anything about coal, but Brack sure the fuck did.

How's that American Recovery and Reinvestment Act working out for you? :-P

It's not Brack's job to dictate to anyone what is ethical.

all they 'demand' is to be treated fairly, like normal human beings who want to worship peacefully. treating all muslims as terrorists and saying they shouldn't build somewhere tat they have every right to so as to not offend your delicate sensibilities means they should be able to do the same in reverse, which they do not.

I have contempt for their actions.

And foot-baths at public universities.

And night practices for majority-Muslim public high school football teams to conform to Ramadan.

And their outrage at the tiniest snub to their precious sensibilities. Defend the firing of Juan Williams at NPR.

By the way, Brack was born a Muslim. Islam is patrilineal. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Funny, you recently claimed you are expecting a "lost decade."

While I, in mid-shrug, am re-tooling for the resurgence in the economy.

but if there is a female cashier at starbucks working alongside a male cashier at starbucks, and the female is being pay discriminated, this now allows her a greater window to seek justice for the discriminatory pay practices.

the lilly leadbetter act says nothing about pay equality between separate professions, despite how convenient that would be for your argument. you are out of your element, johnny.

Actually that was me lampooning what you said. And I stand by it.
go ahead and stand by it, that does not make it so.

i love the profit motive. profit motive pays my rent every month.

You didn't say anything about coal, but Brack sure the fuck did.

better than the alternative. you betcha! *wink*

It's not Brack's job to dictate to anyone what is ethical.
you're right, we already know the practices of health insurers are unethical, and so we petition the party in charge to protect us from these unfair business practices.

go ahead, keep defending the despicable practices of health insurers, making money by not looking after your health.

they could make plenty of money AND act ethically. they are not incompatible concepts, you know.

I have contempt for their actions.

how contemptible.

i don't need to look it up, i have heard many a dolt utter this as to why they believe the president is a muslim.

just because i expect many of the jobs lost to never come back, and parrot analyst predictions that this will be a lost decade, does not entail that i am not also optimistic.

i grow some really good weed, which is never too far out of demand. the future is my oyster.

Spare me the high-minded condescension.

You know as well as I do when Gloria Steinem talks about pay disparity between the sexes she does not break it down by profession. She and all of the other gender-pimps talk about salary disparity between the sexes. And they speak in broad and general terms.

You want to talk about individual cases where an individual of one sex makes a better salary than the other sex, I would be happy to talk about the other differences as well. Like education, experience, sick days taken, etc.

go ahead and stand by it, that does not make it so.
To you, perhaps.

You sure have a funny way of expressing that love.

And the health insurance industry is among the lowest in terms of profit rate. But I am sure you don't concern yourself with things such as that. Gross profit and net profit are all you concern yourself with I am sure.

I already explained which actions to which I was referring.

I find the firing of Juan Williams contemptible.

And I did not say Brack is a Muslim. I said he was born a Muslim.

There is a difference.

As to why you are a Jew, who knows? If you were baptized then you were not born a christian. Christianity does not work that way. You could have converted, as Brack did when he became a Christian. Or your mother could be Jewish. Judaism is matrilineal. The woman is the vessel.

You can look that up, too.

After all that Progressive caterwauling about the Bush years, all the while ignoring the four Pelosi/Reid years; it will be hard to claim that this economy is anything but the Chosen One's.

John, you dont think that the Repubs just stepped into a massive pile of poo?

When Boehner and McConnel came out and repeatedly said that their first three priorities are:
1. Making sure Obama is a single term president
2.Repealing "Obamacare"
3. Repealing the financial reforms.

Notice they didnt mention the economy or jobs as top priorities? They are screwing it up already, they werent given a "mandate" they had a scared and angry electorate and took advantage of it as they should have. We all should remember the last set of Republicans that thought the had been given a mandate, a lesson they apparently have already forgotten.

The ball is now in their court too, they too will have to answer for the upcoming 2 years. If they pull a govt. shutdown, or keep up the obstructionist tactics they will be handing the keys right back to the Dems. in 2012.

Those three goals tie in with the economy and jobs.

I doubt anybody can forget what happened to the Republicans after they lost their way.

But this time around there was no other viable option. The goal was to stop the Obama agenda. And the only real option at this time was for people like me to give the Republicans one more shot - with a stern warning attached.

If they veer from their mandate, and make no mistake, it was a mandate; they will pay the consequences and could destroy their own party.

If Congress presents a budget to Obama and he refuses to sign it, he will be the one to shut down the government.

Obama is not Bill Clinton. Clinton is a master politician. Obama is not. He got lucky and nothing more.

He will not triangulate. If he shuts down the government, the responsibility will rest on his shoulders.

Bush was blamed for the last two years of his Administration, even though Congress was majority-Democrat. This time around, the Republicans control one House of Congress. The calculus is slightly different this time. Nevertheless, it will remain the Obama economy regardless how the chips fall.

As far as obstructionists are concerned, let's wait and see which party morphs into the 'Party of 'No' in the House come January.
