Mixing other plants with your cannabis plants

has anyone done this? Can this effect either plant? I've got some extra space in my grow area and plenty of unused light.. i was thinking of bringing my outside plants inside (herbs).. then i thought bugs would be an issue.. how about starting a few basil plants from scratch and maybe some other herbs.. would this be an issue?

I dont see why you couldnt. I read somewhere that if you grow garlic with your plants it keeps the bugs away.

i might try garlic.. sounds good especially if it remedies bugs. i eat massive amounts of garlic anyways

tons of plants can affect the plants around them in about a bazillion different ways. i have a book that tells you all the different things they do. and yes garlic keep pests away, same with marigold, and a bunch of other plants as well. it also said that yarrow can increase the essential iol production and fragrance or nearby plants, but i think mostly this kind of stuff works with the plants all in the same soil.

i might pick up some live yarrow plants on eBay and give it a shot.. i also hear yarrow attracts many wanted pests such as lady bugs..

you think purchasing a live plant may bring in something bad and effect my garden even if mainly the plant is considered beneficial?

hey man i dont know where you live, but theres aloooooot of places you can find wild yarrow, just become very familiar with what it lloks like, it grows almost everywhere. i see it alot. it is an amzing herb, and is medicinal in many ways.

I would be careful because I know some plants can polinate your marijuana plants. Ex I know if you plant by a corn field your females will get pollinated by the corn. Don't know about herbs though. I would just be careful.

that's not possible man, corn is too unlike marijuana for it to actually pollinate your female.

I'd imagine his knowledge is from personaly experience.... Maybe someone else was growing nearby and had males that weren't ripped early enough, maybe some stoner throwing away the stems and seeds from his bag unknowingly created a monster male that pollinated everything withing a square mile radius.... who knows, anything could've happened. But no, corn will not pollinate your plants

yeah dude I know of so many people who own corn fields with pot plants growing every where in them. Because corn stays about the same size as our favorite plant and have you ever tried to see a single plant within a sea of green? They are just about impossible to find if they are spread out enough.

dude this is the most outrageous comment ever lmao... if you can do that you can cross polinate other things....it would be similar to having a person try to impregnate a fish... not same species it wont work lol... so if this dudes right then any pollen will pollenate the flower, sorry to let u know but pollen is everywhere in the spring and summer so you have some corn nugget i guess... lmao good luck corn nugget man

yea i dont think pot can cross polinate w/ different types of plants if so all of our outside weed would be deformed w/ weird plants...
and lady bugs are good bug they eat bad bugs

could you cross it with anything in the Cannabaceae(hops, hackberries) family or would it have to be in cannabis's genus?

i just looked up the Cannabaceae family and i saw Celtis occidentalis.. haha imagine crossing this? I'm sure theres a couple people here who have the outdoor space to do it however i doubt its legal even to those who grow legally

Be careful. You are safer to plant seeds if you are going to do that because of the bug factor. I brought in some squash plants from my sister-in-laws greenhouse, and ended up getting spider mites, and it was a pain in the ass getting rid of them.
