Aerogarden 6 elite + joint doctor lowryder grow

Quick update:

The pH was at about 7.8 when I checked it this morning at 10.... it's either obvious that it continuously rises up, or that the lemon juice concentrate is merely a temporary fix that only lasts X amount of hours.... this will probably be annoying until I get some real pH up/down.

pH is resting at about a 6.0 for the time being. I will check it periodically today.

All growth has increased slightly over the night. The sprouts are about ready to kick off their seed casings it looks like. Pretty sure the one in the back right corner might have its first set of miniature leaves sprouting.


I plan on keeping the domes on the plants until they've already sprouted their first four leaves... Also I plan on keeping the domes on until the plants are threatening growing enough to touch their leaves to the plastic.

You should try to get some pH adjustment kit asap.. or at least some pH down.

To no6969el: I have nothing personally against LED lights, in fact I've heard pretty good things about them. HOWEVER, for their price, they are not worth it. I have seen and read up on incredibly effective LED grows, but every person (including all those who have successfully grown big crops) say that LED lights just still aren't worth the price. CFL lights are INCREDIBLY cheaper to buy and do not reach very hot temperatures. If you have your heart set on LED grows then go ahead and spend the money. For side lighting though... it just seems a bit like a waste. In addition, the only really good effective grows I've read about using LED lights is that $350 or $400 board of 400 individual LED lights (or some absurd amount). This board (or so I've read) can effectively mimick the light output of a 400W HPS, MH, or just about whatever light you want. As far as side lighting goes... I'd stick with CFLs. If price isn't a problem, do whatever you want this is YOUR UNIQUE GROW! We would all only learn from it. I haven't heard of an aerogrow + LED grow yet

Hey man thanks for the response, yea i thought (even though it would be more expensive.) That it would be a nice mix between the areogarden, led side lights and lowryder, we will have to see how forgiving my next paycheck is before i officially decide to go with led or cfls for the side. I will def keep everyone updated, but dont want to start my own thread till i can start it with setup pictures.

About seeds, I see on this site it suggests nirvana seeds.. does anyone have any experience with http://www.dope-seeds.com ???

I ordered the joint doctor mix (50GPB = ~$75) for 20 seeds... 10 lowryder and 10 lowryder 2. They came with 10 free skunk haze seeds or something as well (don't worry about finding out how to get these, they will automatically add them in packaging after your purchase).

I got no cracked seeds in either batch. I germinated the joint doctor seeds and got a 100% germination rate (damnit, I used two extra seeds in thought that at least two wouldnt work). I have nothing but good things to say about dope seeds. Their shipping is VERY reasonable. It arrived in about 6 days (they claimed 5-7). I also heard that if you get cracked seeds, you can just email them back and they'll send you replacements. Packaging was discrete and mundane except for the obviously UK stamps.

to lurkmaster: I just put in the order for general hydroponics pH up + down on ebay today. I was afraid to get other pH modifiers as idk that the general hydroponic nutrients will play nice with any other brands pH up/down.

No6969el..... I won't lie. That wait will fucking suck. Not to mention when you start growing your babies, you will CONSISTENTLY check on them every 10 minutes. A few days will feel like weeks when waiting and watching. I am sorry... there is no escaping this . Luckily I got my parenting obsession out earlier when I tried my very first ever grow (this is my first real thought out grow, though) in soil. I'll upload some pictures of my soil babies I've been attempting to flower for the last week (no evident flowers yet) for funsies since seeds always start so slow

I'm trying it currently. They look healthy and there is no heating problems.
I actually added a little space heater in the past few nights cause the outdoor temps have been pretty cold. I've read that if your using LED to use 3 light spectrum types lights red/blue/orange. The illuminator UFO I'm using is 90 watt and is the 3 spectrum, the below pic is the beginning of 7 weeks from seed crack.

thanks, The web site I got mine from had them for $400, 2 weeks ago when I ordered mine. They have since dropped again to $350. I don't know what difference they've made really. This is the first time I've grown anything.

Not much of a change today... Had to lower the pH again this morning. Thinking of changing out the reservoir (still with no nutes) as the lemon juice is starting to fog it up a bit >.<. For reasons I can't say (wayyy too blazed) I accidentally left the main top aerogarden lights off last night -_-.

Also had my first major problem (LOL). I had to cover up the aerogrow because some people were coming to see the apartment (we're not renewing our lease). We forgot to uncover it for a bit and the lights got CRAAZY angry and hot on the aerogrow and it legit had started to lose it's form on the plastic covering the lights... it's crazy how hot it must have been.

Lesson learned: DONT COVER AEROGROW WITH A THICK BLANKET!

I'm assuming that and the aluminum foil is what got it so hot... no air flow or anything -_-. Hoping all the plants took the heat OK and will keep everyone posted by the end of the day.

oh man, good thing that it didnt just catch fire during that... yea I had the po po come to my house the other day because neighbors where making noise.. he asked to come in.. and it was the first time I practised my right by saying no. I cant have that happen when the marigarden is chillin in da crib..lol. But ima be honest they dont look at you too happy when you say no...

I am using GH 3 Part. I have used Fox Farms but they seemed to clog up the pumping system.
