well there is no sure fire way to tell sex in veg. you might get some early sexing signs at the end of veg but besides that not really going to show sex. males are usually bigger thats one way but thats not for sure. the only thing you can do is put in flower and wait and see.

You can put a bag over a branch, this is a common practice.
This will simulate 12/12 on this one branch.
