Soil vs. Hydro

It amazes me, but for some I'm sure they are past this by now. It's like a heavyweight boxer on steroids vs. a lightweight. No offense to anyone who grows in soil. Why even grow in soil? I posted some side by side pics in my journal.

Because there are no moving pumps that handle the water, just air pumps that are constantly pumping out air. It is really easy to work with organic nutes in a dwc system and get the best of both worlds.

nice plant!

soil in pots or ground?..... i have always grown in the ground in pre-dug holes, first year in a pot due to the heavy salts in the ground (beach sand) and i can deffinatley see the difference. hoping the yeild will still be descent, im sure it will.

you're not done. you have weeks left. not an accurate comparison yet. wait until you compare the flavor and the high. you may change your mind. more is not always better, unless of course you just sell it and you don't care.

Not mine, sketch...just trying to show that it's just a plant and it can be grown with outstanding results in either medium.

NGT...I'm tossing a bit of metanaturals nitrogen in my DWC...so far...no nastiness and they seem to like it. Might try a few other things in the organic realm on em too. I've never used chems and using the GH kinda bums me out. Purty colors tho... LOL

Why use soil as a medium though when you can grow hydroponic get better results and still stay organic.

I'm a few weeks away from harvest, next batch to come through is going to be cheese and super skunk. I have several dwc systems running. I might actually do a comparison between a chem based dwc and an organic based dwc and see if there is any difference in the smoke.

i was thinking of taking a strong soil like ocean forest or power flower and put it in a pillow case/cheeze clothe or something and in to a homemade tea. try to extract the essence and apply it to your dwc, hydro mediium but organic soil goodness.

Sounds like a lot of effort to get the nutes out, why not just buy a bottle of organic nutes, if you wanna use foxfarms then sure buy the bottles and tip it in the dwc it wont make a difference as the water isnt circulating

hydro is like breast implants. they look great but once you get your hands on them you feel kinda cheated.

I dont understand what you mean, how is it like breat implants, there isnt any un-natural growth in there. Plus you can use organic with hydro.

If hydro provides bigger better yields why not do it, especially seeing as you can use organic nutes and get what you would have got out of soil and still have the bigger bumper yield.

Have you tried organic hydro?

marijuana does not naturally grow in water. it's a fake medium just like implants.

instead of big money making bumper crop yields, i prefer a more connoisseur type crop. i'm a patient not a dealer. :blsmoke:

yes, i have smoked organic hydro. that is how i based this opinion.

Its still funny though, because you can start as many of these threads as you like but the argument will never get settled, a few people get converted every now and again, but they hydro crew will say they get just as good crops no drop in quality and get more of it for the same amount of work. Soil growers always say yeah but it tastes better in soil.

The argument will carry on for time to come yet.

There is one slight flaw in your argument though fdd, in that you live in cali and have a license and can grow legal in your back garden and get bumper crops. Everyone on here if they could would choose to go outdoors if it was a possibility but its not, so we all choose the best artificial method to get what we want. See I could grow in soil indoors but you could still say its like implants because i'm using artificial light.
