look DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT put a hole in your trunk!!!!!!!!1

way too much stress on the plant. dont want hermies!!
but what is true is that if you take your trunk and squeeze it, till it crunches a LITTLE! then let it heal for a couple of days and do it again like two inches higher. starting from the lowest point of green vegetation on the stalk. repeat until about 6-7 inches up on the stalk. but leave atleast 3 day of healing time between each crunch.after you do each two inch interval, start back at the bottom and do it between each one you have done already.
if you do it right your plants stalk should start turning very hard and strong. very much similar to a tree trunk. almost wood like. i have a plant about two feet tall, grow outdoors and it is about 3 months old. my trunk is about 2 inches in diameter. just do it appropriatley and only about 6 times.:peace: :peace:

wouldn't that just make scar tissue? And doesn't scar tissue inhibit flow? I am just guessing here but I wouldn't do it on that theory alone...

it allows the plant too grow a stronger stem by focusing growing nutrients and efficiency on the damaged part making it heal stronger. just like us plants get sronger the more you work them out. just dont over work them.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I know people who do this but I personally dont I use a fan to blow the plants back and forth the sway makes the fiber stretch and tighten making the stalk plenty strong without the induced stress of the smashing and pinching

also this may not work as well indoors since plants are usually trained to be shorter. i grow outdoors and my plants usually end up over 4 feet tall. definately need a really strong trunk at those heights.

You don't want or need a stronger stem. The stem is strong enough to grow all the way through veg'. Then in flower you tie up the stem to support it. This stops the stem from getting any bigger and allows the plant to concentrate on growing bud.

Any damage you do to your plant and this will take time to repair. Particularly in flowering, you cannot really afford to lose up to a week (maybe more) of growth.

A stronger stem should not be your aim, but a healthy plant that is weighed down by bud.

put a nail or staple through it a week before harvest.

That is probably the most stupid advice I have heard, putting things like this on the site is only going to damage the reputation of the site.

I cant believe you told a newbie to put a nail through his plant, next you will be telling newbs its good to break it in half too.

There are a lot of growers that stress their plants just before harvest, maybe a couple of days. This has been proven to send thc production into overdrive as the plant believes it needs more protection so that it can grow as best as it can.

I believe sketch is confused as to what this thread is actually about.

I just dont think its a good thing to do, to tell newbies to put nails through their plants, especially with no real specifics.

No mention of where how what size. Very irresponsible.

Yes. Even sticking a nail through the stem. The plant has finished growing and there's just a couple ogf days to go till the plant is ready.

Personally though i don't do it. As the last few days are vital to the plant adding extra weight. I suppose it's personal preference. Whether you go for the sugar or the weight.

The last few days are imperative to cannabis and makes a lot of difference in the weight. If you damage/stress the plant, it will concentrate on resin production rather than weight.

I wont deny I have heard of it, but there just seems like all sorts of things that could go wrong by doing it, especially for someone who isnt very experienced. What if they just picked up a lose nail that wasnt sterilized and it carried all sorts of germs, as someone said earlier on, its going to put most of its energy in that last week into fixing the wound, in the last two weeks the buds fatten up. I would prefer to have fatter more full buds than an extra 2% on the thc. Especially if your working with strains that are 20% anyway.

i guess those who lack commen sence would go and do something like that. but obviously not you ngt! some of us prefer to do research on such an outrageous topic before going to such extremes, wouldnt we?
