I am planning on doing this. I'll use hydroton rocks with Fox Farms Grow Big Nutes, and 1 tbsp Molasses per gallon. (For a 16 gallon rez that's 16 tbsp = 1 cup)

im currently using molasses in my fox farm tiger bloom.. im 10 days into flowering and its lookin good... according to jorges rx in high times mag: "mollasses is effective bcuz it feeds the little microbes and bacteria in the soil that in turn make the uptake of nutrients more effecient." thus increasing your buds by 20%. it says put 2 tablespoons of molasses per quart of water and water with this once every couple of weeks

What exactly does the molasses do again?
.
Lowkster.... Unsulphured Molasses will add an NPK value of 5-1-3, if mixed one ounce to one gallon of unchlorinated water. So one use, is a cheap all natural fertilizer, full of trace minerals.
.
I say unchlorinated water, because most people (myself included) use this in fertilizer tea mixes to (2nd use) feed the microbeasties (good bacteria & fungi) in our teas. These microbeasties will break down all insoluble NPK in the soil over time, making it very soluble (available) to your plants.
.
Give this a read - it might help:

Hope this helps....
Keep it Real...Organic....

Hey OHSOGREEN,

So do you think there is any advantage to making your own tea as opposed to just using the pre-made organic Grow It Green and Flower Power in conjunction with the Super Plant Tonic made by Blue Mountain Organics.
(I must add that these are fantastic products available at a can't beat it price!!!:hump:, having used them in a veggie and herb garden.)
Also, do you personally still use molasses when using either these products or the tea?

I also use all fox farm nuts and use nector instead of molasses and it works wonderful nector makes the plant suck up all the nuts

i know this is Old but never know if it will pop something...
I was under the impression that molasses needs to be used in organic soils? If so, How would FFOF be of any use with this tech? i use humboldt + FFoF mixed aswell.

I used molasses on my previous grow with really good results I also used ffof with open sesame, beastie bloomz, an cha Ching and it all worked well for me the only thing is that I didn't veg my plant long enough so kinda shorted myself haha anyway I used 1 tbs of molasses to a 1 gal of distilled water and 1/4 tsp of nutes to 1 gal.

2 tablespoons per quart?? Holy shit batman, that's a ton and a half.. exactly why always say Jorge isn't a grower.. Christ..
I think there's 4 quarts In a gallon, so according to Jorge that would be 8 tablespoons per gallon..

All molasses does is feed the micro life in the soil, but if you're using any sort of chemical nutrients, they tend to kill off the micros in the first place..
Roots can not absorb macro sugars that are present in molasses .. they must first be broken down into simple sugars via the micros, and like I said earlier , chem nutes kill micros..
If you use all organics than molasses will help feed the beasties and micro life present in the soil..

Here we go again...

Here are the ingredients in your Fox Farms Grow Big:

Ingredients: Ammonium sulfate, ammonium phosphate, urea, blood meal, potassium nitrate, potassium sulfate, earthworm castings, Norwegian kelp, iron EDTA, zinc EDTA, manganese EDTA, copper EDTA, chelating agent, disodium ethylenediamine tetra acetate (EDTA), sodium borate and sodium molybdate.

If you want to grow organically and have anything slightly resembling a productive "micro herd" in your soil, step one is to stop using Fox Farms nutrients which absolutely are not anything near organic... 13 out of 16 of the ingredients (if I counted correctly) are not organic, and those EDTA chelated metals are ESPECIALLY detrimental to soil life.

Tiger Bloom is just as bad.... Read the ingredients for yourself.
