Outdoor fertilizer

I'm gonna plant some autos in the ground and use fox farms nutrients. Would I go about it the same way or would it be pointless to add it because it's just gonna wash away. Sorry in advance for the noob question.

I tried to grow with mj last year but it held the water too much and it died from over watering
Ya just need to mulch with it, it will actually improve soil drainage this way.

How can compost cause over-watering? If you've got too much of it in a 'soil mix' it will cause lack of drainage of course, but that's a whole different kettle of fishbongsmilie

That's definitely an issue I noticed with too much compost as well. I had to go ROLS instaed of no-till like I wanted, but that worked out because I had issues with too much compost when using CC's recipe. However, I was reading an interview with him and he confirmed my suspicions and that was that "You don't get my results because you don't have my worm castings/compost". So with that in mind I bumped my aeration ratio to 50% when I recycled the soil and added a much smaller amount of compost to the equation. They seem to be enjoying it so far and you can always top dress with more amendments/compost at any time you deem necessary. In a living soil, less is more. You can always add more, but trying to remove something is quite difficult.

Don't ever apologize for asking a question my friend. Anyone that belittles you for trying to learn is more often than not a complete piece of shit. What kind of person actually makes fun of someone for trying to learn? Sorry, but that's always really fucking torqued me.

I have absolutely no experience with autos, so I can't help you with that but I can help with your other questions.

I've had wonderful results with Fox Farm's Trio of bottled nutrients and it was what I first started out with. However, only the Big Bloom bottle is 100% organic. If I recall, the Big Bloom is pretty much just chelated worm castings and you can start using it pretty much immediately. However, if you're using Fox Farm soil then I wouldn't use the other bottles for at least 4, if not 6 weeks. Ocean Forest is usually pretty hot, and in fact, if you're starting from seed I wouldn't plant seedlings/clones directly into the stuff. Grab yourself some coco or peat moss to mix with the Ocean Forest and make the first couple of inches a mix of peat/coco and Ocean Forest. FFOF is great soil, but only for plants that are 8 inches at a minimum. I often recommend Happy Frog to people for that exact reason.

Bottled nutrients will not wash away unless you flush the medium, which requires between 3-5 gallons of water for every gallon of growing medium. You'll typically put your nutrients into a 1g jug, shake, then apply. Look at the bottle for the recommended dosage, and use 1/4 of what they recommend on the back of the bottle. Remember, it's WAY easier to add more than it is to attempt to remove.

When you say in the ground, what do you mean exactly? Did you just dig a hole and plant them in there? Are they in soil, and if so why kind? If you're using FF nutes I'm going to take a stab and guess you're using FFOF and/or Happy Frog? If so, don't worry about using the Tiger Bloom or the Grow Big until your plants are at least 1ft tall.

If you could give me a better idea of your set-up/situation I'd be more than happy to help out, it's hard for me to give concrete advice without knowing the entire situation. Hope some of this was helpful :)

Thanks for the reply! I'm gonna dig a hole and fill it up with potting soil. Then add nutrients as it's growing.

All one needs to do if using compost is cut it and aerate it, best results I ever had, for sheer expression, sheer potency, etc, were from using home made compost blends. Plus you can get a tonne of free stuff from nature that doesn't have all the slaughterhouse stuff in it, can't beat that imo. But I dont like FF myself, Tight Dojo.jpg

and I love nature / au natural, so I may be biased!!
