I think it would be cool to do a side-by-side to show what defoliation can do to yields. You are in the perfect spot to test it and show everyone that hasn't seen it yet.

Defoliation will help all lighting systems.

If you have a wide enough space you could hang the LED on either side and put a small HID in the middle:

I X 0 X I

Then grow out both vertically, topped, trained and defoliated. You wouldn't need anything bigger than a 150W HID for that, I would still switch between HPS and MH when needed.

One thing I found to help is enough veg time so the plant can be trained and tipped for flower. Above the third true node, top. Then, above the fifth true node, top. Finally, above the sixth node, top. From here, hit the flower button with eight colas.

Yea my crazy off the wall method netted more then 8 colas but spacing isn't very good, some ended up bunched together and big gaps between some. Not maximizing my canopy. I really like the mainlining idea.

And yea I thought once they are on the same water system enough variables are cut out that I should have a good argument on my defoliation or see that it's a horrible idea and never do it again lol.

The way it is now they are usually +\- 100 ppm and .2 ph off from one another. So way too much variables there to not have people picking the demonstration a part

And while I really like your hybrid idea, I have invested a lot and don't know if I want to resort to adding more lighting yet. Maybe down the road. As it is now just to revamp my RDWC system it's gonna be about 150 for the right size pumps and two more 12 gal square buckets.

And also really hoping to cut veg time or be much bigger with the same veg time next go. I'll skip the stunt from too much trimming, and the stunt from N toxicity next round lol.

I'm vegging my clones under the t-5 fixture where I can top them & basicly start off larger than the 5" clones I started out with this grow when you start with larger plants in the first place they take off a lot faster & when they're already topped that speeds up the branching out as well & if you have a clone off something you have you have the advantage of knowing how it's gonna act this is doubledream it's a bluedream/stardawg cross also a prime candidate for defoliation IMG_2170.JPG

I thought I'd know how they would act, until I got my hands on them and they acted completely different lol. I'm stopping by his house I'll see if he will allow me to snap a picture. You won't believe they are same strain from the same mother.

I vegged for two months so they were small in height for that amount of time. I have had bigger stalk and root system then him the whole time though. I'd hope to have them that size in a month next time, or almost double the size in 2 months.

I believe you my doubledream didn't stretch much after the flip & I was used to hid lighting where most sativa dominant strains at least double in size , I'm having to un-learn the stuff I learned using hid lighting I would of been better off firing up the led with no prior experience

your leds might finish them a bit sooner you weren't kidding when you said your grow looked way different is that other plant in soil?
Hahaha you made me Lol for real. No he's also in DWC. Both clones off sAme mother. Just different environment and caretakers and two weeks.

Edit: same nutrient line too.

you made me lol due to makeing me
Feel so good about compareing my first grow to his who have been growing for years as to be thinking he must be in soil really made my night. :clap:bongsmilie

And I'm kinda hoping I still got a solid couple weeks of bud growth! Lol. I was figuring 2 more of good growth 2 of ripening and releasing major resin.
