hey guys. Just got a full time job at a farm locally. Gonna be doing the lawn and weeding flower beds and the vegetable garden . I also got to do maintainence on the mowers and fences.

My rate is only 11 a hr. What do employers actually expect from someone getting paid state minimum (just about) when there are so many expectations ? Are they looking for bare minimum work here in just trying to view it there way

Thing is if you except the job give them a 100% or don't take the job. It's a matter of being able to respect yourself and your employer if their not treating you with the same respect then move on .

Mowing lawns is usually once per week; depending on size, weeding could be done in a few days. That leaves fence mending and equipment maintenance; again done in a few days. Thereafter, lawns mowed again, weeding fence mending and equipment much less time. After say 2 weeks you'll be on top of all the duties and looking for stuff to fill an 8 hr shift. The employer is assessing you, if he likes your work ethic you'll get more responsibilities and a raise.

Did ICE do a sweep through the area? A Mexican would do all that for half that wage.

Doesn't matter what they pay, you agree to it, you do it to the best of your abilities. That's how a job works.
Yep. OP it may look formidable right now, but if you do have a good work ethic, you'll be on top of it quickly, then it's routine short time stuff. Like I said, you'll be looking for more stuff to do soon

Whatever you do, OP, don't fuck with the daughter. That never seems to end well...

Bring your own gloves the first day. This says "I came to work".
Check the oil on the mower before you crank it. This says "I care about your equipment".
Show up 10 minutes early. First impressions are amazing like that.

Do none of those and it says "I want a check, not a job".

This is a good tip.. also wouldn't hurt to bring some basic hand tools. Hammer screwdriver pliers.. shit like that.
