foxfarm soil is great but...

I didn't like the roots any of it. I got gnats with it too and I prefer the way the FF does with water vs the roots. I found the roots brand to dry out faster and need amending way sooner than just the straight FFOF. My last grow in soil before this one and in a SIP I only topped dressed the FFOF one time at the beginning of flower that was it. Water only the whole time as easy as it gets and especially as a new guy. I am back in soil now and this is the healthiest my plants have ever been. Loving the no till and learning about all the amendments etc. Got my own worm farm fresh worms and ewc right from home it's rolling now and I am.loving it. And using dechlorinated tap right now has kept my cal mag in check even under the COBs

:)
promix works great for sips, amend top couple inches with lime and lots of dry ferts(3 cups) and you're golden.

I just could never find it but my local shop had a different product with the exact same ingredients as the promix and that was my best base for the first batch. This last time because I learned more I went with straight peat it was a lot cheaper and I didn't like all the perlite last batch it's said to harden and sink in no till over time so I used lava rocks and between that and the worms and a lot less perlite I have been good so far. We will see the girls in flower are doing good to this point

Yea i don't use perlite either, it floats and ends up at the end of the container so screw that stuff, get some chunky pumace, it has macro nutrients, check out my dirt i just made this is about 20 cubic feet.

Looks good and funny you mention them the rice hulls is next on my list to order from build a soil. But I want to see if I find it at the local feed store first. I think they would comoliment the red lava rocks well and with the worms in there and the rest moss should be good to go.

Worms love rice hulls , bio char and compost. I used the lava rocks before they work GREAT. Make sure you plant a companion crop/ cover crop :) Clover works great.

I got my shit growing through layers of defoliated leaves and straw it gets out of control especially in the big 15 gal pots in flower. I have learned a little goes a long way lol. And the cover crop loves the foliar sprays as much as the plants

Due to dumb ass plant count restrictions i have to grow in gigantic containers so i know what you are talking about.

true but why buy subpar soil when quality soil is easy to aquire, you said you buy products from build a soil why not just buy their mix that doesnt have gross stuff in it? I recommend this guy make his own mix, that's why i do, cheapest and most effective way to get exactly what you want. Bales of compressed peat are very inexpensive.
you have no idea what i grow in,, you jump to so many conclusions its unreal,, my soil is more horse shit compost and chicken poop compost than anything,, the soil here in the willamette valley of Oregon is some of the richest stuff on earth, @Evil-Mobo and I have been going towards no till for some time,, he is further than me,, but both of us were only trying to help this guy get some cheap soil that will grow his plants instead of miracle grow!!,,
but seems you just want to start arguments ,, not everything is a fight

I didn't jump to any conclusions i asked a simple question it seems like you are the one who wants to fight. If you don't want to use quality products that is fine i don't really care what you do , just throwing out the fact that you can easily make your own mix for cheap, sorry if you took that the wrong way.

Get a bale of peat and make your own mix, you can get it at home depot , lowes or any local garden store. There are hundreds of recipes online to make a mix.

Hey , I have no regrets about my previous grow using Ffof , biggest plants I ever grew
this news doesnt change how i grow,, there is a big probablility that ffof will be a part of my soil mixes,, i was told that NY city takes human waste ( poop sewer slime) and they ship it to texas where its spread all over the top soil as a fertilizer for fields there,
its Soylent Green !!!!
