Paul Lewin : The Liberal Party Will Ruin Legalization

The issue I see causing arguments is where it says " the liberals have fucked us" ,you can expect massive negative feedback here at riu anytime anything negative is posted about any liberal party issue, truth is irrelevant in most cases.
See, that is where you're wrong. Truth is very relevant in this discussion, regardless of your political preferences, which is why I question speculative rants with a political message. Clearly you have nothing to add.

You do realize that you are talking to a known nazi groupie and prison rapist, yeah?

Best bet: Disregard ANY and EVERYthing that he posts.

because the liberals in charge have done such a good job with it so far, right

The fuckers have made MJ ALL about the money they can squeeze all the cash from it,as always the establishment uses our issues for their profit & they count on people like you running block for them while they ring us dry of all cash .

Youd have a valid gripe if the liberals in charge hadn't created the mess in place right now,but they did so you don't .

I personally don't see any problem with Lewins comments being he's so deeply involved, extrapolating new data predictions using known parables & standpoints is far from guesswork,no matter the issue .

i read it..didn't you make up the restricted weapons saying?

"logical" ......well so much that has gone down in cannabis land..like most all of it is not "logical"

infact when about cannabis none of it is logical..prohibition is not logical..

good grief..haven't you been in the MMAR long enough to see that?
It was me that said that. The comparison is fairly accurate. Anything the libs deem inappropriate is treated the same. They seem to think anything that hurtstheir grip of control is bad and makes us feel like criminals for engaging in it. The list is to long to post here. They treat us like children and some are happy about it.

Guess you have not been watching the news then or do you think the raids are done by the us
When did the Liberals promise to protect illegal dispensaries? Last I checked, policing was a provincial and municipal responsibility. If you have evidence of any raids being ordered by the federal Liberals, we'd all like to see it.

Its a federal law. Didn't they also promise to pardon possession charges during their election.

That's not what I asked. What involvement have the feds had in dispensary raids? And no, there was no promise of pardons...that was Mulcair.
Mulcair want decriminalization. I watched trudum say from his lips live at uwo. During the raids they are charged under federal law not a provincial law. Billy blair has said that dispensaries and cc's are illegal and the rcmp are under federal jurisdiction. Thats that help

The municipality pays for law enforcement. Many laws are federal...they are enforced at a local or provincial level. Many cities and towns have said marijuana laws are not an important use of resources. Some are even licensing dispensaries. How'd you think it would go over if the RCMP came in and took away Vancouver or Victoria's power to police? Maybe this will help you out...

Comparative Jurisdictions of Public Police Forces
Under the Constitution, responsibility for public policing is primarily a provincial matter. In exercising this responsibility, the provinces, through provincial Police Acts, have followed the British tradition and delegated the responsibility for public policing to municipalities when they are large enough to take it on. Nonetheless, provinces exercise considerable control over policing by paying part of the cost of municipal policing and by penalizing municipalities that fail to maintain standards. In most provinces this supervision is undertaken by a police commission established to avoid at least the appearance of direct governmental control over the public police. In addition, at the municipal level many towns and cities have established police boards to oversee the operation of the public police. Most municipal police forces, however, are governed directly by municipal councils or their committees.

The provinces not only provide provincial police for those areas that fall outside municipal jurisdiction but also support and co-ordinating services such as police training, criminal intelligence and forensic facilities.

Although the federal government does not have primary constitutional responsibility for policing, the federal police force, the RCMP, headquartered in Ottawa, is the largest single police force in the country and operates at both the municipal and provincial level in all provinces - except Ontario and Québec - and in the Yukon and the NWT. RCMP involvement in policing at the provincial and municipal levels arises because the RCMP contracts to provide policing services to the provinces and municipal jurisdictions.

Got any examples to support that?

Mulcair wanted decrim while the rules for re-legalization were worked out but was in favour of full re-legalization as the ultimate goal.

Had not Jack Layton been taken from us the NDP would have won the last election and we'd all be up to our collective asses in legal pot by now! ;)

Anyone who voted for another Trudeau mainly based on the promise of him getting this done right is way too stoned to be allowed to vote.

Just look at the people he put in charge of setting things up. A corrupt anti-pot cop and what's her bitch. That and the fact that he didn't at least decrim in the interim shows you how disingenuous he really is.

Liberals are no more to be trusted than Cons and both parties continue to screw the little people in favour of corporate monopolies while they line their pockets. A pox on both their houses!

Justin should be a Con because he sure conned a lot of voters.

While technically legal on the books, they have won in court pretty consistently at the highest levels in BC. I'm not sure that it's correct that they are illegal in BC given how the courts have ruled and the fact the police NEVER bust them. The only shops ever busted are doing shady shit. I've heard every background story to every bust on Vancouver Island and it's usually the same story. Bikers, selling to 16 year olds etc etc.

Basically the courts have decided that a tightly regulated dispensary can provide to people with or without a doctors note as long as they are going out of their way to make sure the patient has a condition that cannabis helps with (or they say does) and can't find a doctor. There's a few boxes to check with this stuff but once you do you never seem to be on the police radar. There are of course bylaw violators in some spots etc.

Anyway my sister has been dating a crown prosecutor (nice guy actually, does a lot of young offenders stuff) and he said to me police and the crown simply won't bother with cases they cannot get a conviction on. It's a pretty simple formula - they pursue the most likely convictions. Given the court history here you don't see the raids happening here. Now in the rest of Canada it's a different story as there are different courts there. The government in BC never dared appeal to the Supreme Court I think for fear of losing possibly? Not sure probably would have to be behind the scenes to really know what happened there. Thank Ted Smith and The Buyers Club gang for this one as well as Steve and the girls and guys down at the Vics.

Ted Smith is a pretty good guy. Had many a chat with him on another forum until he left a couple years ago. I have a signed copy of his book, Hempology 101 : The History and Usage of Cannabis Sativa. Good read.

Was in BC in Aug and could have bought at a dispensary without a medical exemption but wanted the first pot I've smoked but mine for ages to be a legal bag. Saw a doctor in Vernon twice and got 8g/day for no fee. Billed my Alberta medical for 2 unspecified visits. Went back to the store and scored some medicine. :)

Up north here in BumF**k, Alberta you'd make the front page with a couple of plants. Lord, don't let them catch me now!
