It would be ethical to intervene if the agreement took advantage of one party in one way or another as I just described

Is it your right or theirs to make their agreements ?

To decide what terms they can live with etc. ?

Do you often make your neighbors choices for them ? Tell them what to eat? When it's time for them to go to bed ?

It sure sounds like you think you're being Robin Hood, when you're really being the Sheriff of Nottingham.

I think it's wrong to sell gullible people stupid shit. Some people think if they can sell stupid people worthless shit, it's their own fault for falling for it

This thread should be abolished....not a fan of seeing folks that I (mostly) agree with/support bickering foolishly when there are far bigger fish to fry...

I think it's wrong to make others choices for them.

If you think something is stupid but another person values it enough to make a willing trade for it, do you have the right to make them obey your view point and forego theirs ?

I have the right to stand in competently when they cannot and make the choice for them

When my grandma was dying, she was desperate for any relief. When she turned to TV preachers asking for her money, I absolutely, and unabashedly, had every right to tell them to go fuck themselves. Yes.

Interesting story, but sort of a diversion from my point.

So, if I deem a person incompetent, I can forcibly impose the choices I'd prefer they make on another person?

Like I said, I don't have a problem with tipping. I have a problem with society telling me I have to tip so this group of people doesn't have a shitty life. That's not my problem, that's the employers problem. If you don't want this group of people to have a shitty life because they get paid shit, demand their employers raise their wages. Don't put the burden and guilt onto me for simply being a consumer
But you are in effect, their employer. Whether they receive payment directly from you or indirectly through their employer, you still foot the bill. The guilt thing is all yours.

It's fraud.

Do you have the right to sell me a car with no engine? Same exact thing. They're selling bullshit. Selling bullshit should be illegal regardless of how stupid you are.
