Can someone explain this 48" non-flowering Autoflower to me? (Russian Rocket Fuel)

I received some seeds from a colleague a while back, 6 auto flowers spanning 3 strains and these Russian Rocket Fuel's are getting kind of huge and not really flowering but definitely showing female preflowers. They're surrounding 24 hours of HPS light (vertical bulb) and it's like Day 58. I am including a photo of an LA Diva autoflower that was planted on the same exact day as these with probably only a couple weeks to go.

The only thing I can figure is that these are NOT autoflower, despite being packaged as autoflower or that they don't like 24/0? I'm wondering at this point if I should just start taking clippings from this beast (48" tall) and call it a mother because I'm not convinced it's going to flower despite a lot of preflowers.

Thoughts? Did I receive mislabeled female seeds?

Honestly I am kind of hoping that's what happened, this would just be another strain for me to have and I could take a crazy amount of cuttings from this thing then flower it and probably yield quite a lot, I hear it's a good yielder in general.

LA Diva also day 58 (I counted from roots showing, not flowering) it's such a blatant lie that these strains are "45 days from seed" or whatever, I'm already 15 days beyond that and it's not done at all. The poor looking leaves were from cutting wood in the same room and forgetting to turn off the fan, saw dust got everywhere and burnt them (before flowers developed).

You know, the RRF right next to the tall one in question is actually showing a little bit more than just a couple preflowers so maybe they're just EXTREMELY slow to start, I mean almost 2 months slow, I wonder if they don't like the 24/0 light schedule (although I've heard others having now issue) I do not have the walls constructed yet so I can't block of light which is why I'm doing autos until it's complete, guess I need to get to work. I was almost hoping it was just a fem, I guess I'll know soon enough.

I guess I need to finish sheathing my stud walls, figure out a door and start introducing a light schedule. Have to do it anyway because the next 8 in veg are all regular females anyway.

Could be the Bush?? If you can try 12/12 and you have space it'd be worth it to try.

I had one just like yours that I don't believe I mentioned in my thread, I ended up sacrificing it because it was taking up half of my tent and I needed room for my other plants.

It preflowered but never started making buds. I think I culled it at like 10 weeks.
It felt sad to do but like I said I needed space and it was the middle of winter so I couldn't put it outside

I agree with 18/6 for auto flowering. Be patient my buddy had the same problem where it was acting like it wasn't a auto flower cut back the light 24 is way to much. Every living thing needs sleep.

I never changed the light cycle yet because I am still finishing up walls / door but it did start flowering! Finally starting to form clusters that will be evolving into buds it just took forever, I think I'm just going to let it go until everything is sealed up in here and I start switching females into the flower room before I switch to 12/12 but my goal is to do that within a week or two anyway. Happy to see it finally started though, thanks for the responses.

I think it has more to do with the root zone. When I ran DWC in 5 gallon buckets the autos would 'veg' for a lot longer than if they were in smaller pots.

That would be a nice correlation, I grew another auto only one time it was a freebie and I yielded over 4-5oz from that one (in DWC) when everything I always read to expect is 1-3oz from these things on average. Maybe I'll have some nice yields with these, the LA Diva's (small plants) are packing on some seriously dense and solid nugs top to bottom, I do like the vertical lamp and it keeps my wattage down a lot since I'm only using 600W (I have a 600W MH for veg too but it's dialed to 300W). My 12K BTU window unit doesn't run that often either so I'm happy with how well it's cooling the space glad I bought a decent sized one instead of sticking with my previous 5K (always running).

You hit the nail on the head.

Auto flowers use the taproot as the flowering mechanism. In thier natural habitat the root hits permafrost and they flower.

Basically, the bigger the pot the longer the veg.

You can also extend veg with slightly higher N.


I will also agree to flipping them to 12/12 to induce flower then go back to 18/6.

They started flowering finally a few days ago and now I'm seeing a lot of oncoming bud sites but that room will eventually become 12/12 anyway once it's light sealed since all of my other plants are female/regular anyway and I'm sure that will happen before I'm even 1/3rd of the way through the RRF's flowering cycle, I actually like the longer veg times though this is great I might try some more autoflowers if I can consistently get decent sized plants because of my medium. I was surprised by my last autoflower a couple years ago.

Ive done autos on 12/12. Once the stretch is over and later in flower the reduced light won't hurt yield as much.

What if you did a combo attack when your read. Transplant from dwc to good soil plus change the light schedule....you really don't have much to lose...a plant that big will still give you a good weight when she decided to flower
