Make some nice, thick plates that won't crack, please. Plates that are too thin seem to crack under pressure where the heater element cavities are drilled...a big drawback in some designs.

My very much more primitive method of rosin-making has been to use some old printing plates that I had around...put them in my kitchen oven and bring the plates up to around 300F....The plates are made from zinc -maybe like 5/16 in. thick....Once the oven beeps when it reaches the right temp, I take the plates out, insert a packet of non-melt bubble hash in between some parchment and then I clamp the plates together with a woodshop clamp just above where the packet is sandwiched....and then I Insert that whole thing into my bench vice (an old 50 pound monster!) and then I use a small sledge hammer to hit the vice handle and tighten it as tight as possible. Through trial and error, I have managed to work with this method -as primitive as it is- and made some pretty nice rosin.

But I have been looking into the pneumatic presses and roller presses and all kinds of things, too -basically collecting information and best prices, ideas, etc.

I am very anxious to see what you come up with! I know it's going to rock!

From what i've read so far, the more pressure, the less heat.
So with 12 tons, i think i should work in the lower heat range, and with this setup i can go either way.

If you know what you're doing with B.H.O. and use gas without contaminations the risk is minimal, and a felony? caamooon

But nevertheless i'm intrigued by the rosin process.
The ability to grab a bud, walk towards my shed, and in no-time press some quality shatter is awesome

I'm no expert, strike one. Proper purging is everything and I don't have the right equipment or knowledge, strike two. Yes, it's a felony here, even when growing weed itself is perfectly legal- so I'll stick to growing, something I know a little about. Strike three, and I'm out- and besides, great shatter is everywhere in Colorado so why reinvent the wheel?

You forgot the part with the stone axes and bear skins.

I won't economize on the aluminium then! Can you share a picture of the result you're getting?

That's where you 'murica guys are much further in the meantime.... here in the netherlands shatter is nowhere to be found.

For the plates i decided to go for a cilinder shape
A little bit smaller than a CD, 110mm (or 4.3inch) diameter, thickness 50mm (or 2 inch)

for about 30 euro's delivered to my doorstep!

That's going to work great! I was in a discussion with a guy on another thread about rosin who also used that round aluminum stock for his plates...I'll see if I can get the pic for you....

I have a converted 12ton press. It's plenty of pressure, but you still need heat to get things viscous enough to flow. Too much pressure for my 2.5x5" plates. Should be really good for those 110mm rods.
Using a filter bag really helps with quality, so I was kind of designing around the bags.

I searched a lot of the interwebz about the size of the plates in relation to the amount of pressure.
This was about the best match i could find, lets hope it works not only in theory
By the time i got everything put together i'll make sure to also get some filterbags to experiment with!

Where you shooting for a certain PSI? I wanted 400psi. But going way over kill was about the same price.

No, since i have no real life experience with rosin, i wanted a press with a manometer, and enough power to go both ways, and yeah, price difference is not that much indeed.

Try and source locally is my only wisdom! Im in the UK and in the process of starting a small business making LED growlights,I spent hours getting info on supply of heatsinks...managed to find a supplier for similar spec as Netherfly at a moderately decent price inc shipping

I'm trying to mount 32 cxa3070's in an 8x4 tent and was gonna get 8 of these http://www.tme.eu/en/details/rad-a4291_1000/radiators/ and mount 4 cobs on each. But when I went to check out, I found they weigh 40KG in total. That's way to much to be hanging from my tent and that's just the heatsinks.

Any advice would be welcome

Hmmmnn, when I add the weight of 4 drivers and aluminium angle on to that, it's around 45kg, thats the same weight as 45L/12Gl of water. I've already got an inline fan/silencer/carbon filter hung up, there's no way my tent will take that weight. I'm gonna have to move the extraction equipment out of the tent (apart from the scrubber obviously), no matter what I reckon and stop storing shit on top of it..................or just scrap the 'F-ing' tent completely, they're a total PITA anyway, but that would take quite a bit of re-arranging of the room.

Nothing scientific. Just makes sense to be outside. Tents don't quiet things that much really. If you need to get less weight, take things out that could go out side it. I got my tent seller to send me 6 more ceiling cross weight baring poles so my weight is very evenly distributed.

Found this pallet a few weeks ago. Might make it into a 9 cob lamp some day. Would paint the recesses white and throw pin sinks on top. It'd be pretty cool. But most of all, it'd be light weight!!

and some tits I'm sure @Growmau5 would appreciate. girl I know on fb just PUTTIN' it out there! I was like OmGz!!
