Window Banger AC in Sealed Room.

I am considering a new sealed room grow and I'm wondering what steps need to be taken to ensure that no air escapes around a window AC unit. I understand that the unit needs to have the option to close vents and recirculate only. I know I need to caulk all cracks surrounding the window unit installation. All that is pretty straight forward. What I'm wondering about is the interior seal of the AC. I have heard that this seal can break down over time and allow air (and odor) to escape. What is the best way to ensure an airtight seal on the interior of the AC unit? Also, I have heard about people using black spray paint to eliminate light leaks, but this doesn't make much sense to me, why would black paint on the interior of the AC keep light from escaping? I have seen people use light tight black ducting attached to the front of the AC to block the light leak and also direct the cool air where they want it. I'm pretty sure that is the route I will be taking, but I wouldn't mind hearing if anyone has any insight on the black spray paint bit. I feel pretty confident that I can seal the window AC and keep the smell contained, but I would like to hear any insight I can before attempting this. I cannot afford to have any air exchange to outside.

sooo you decided to share a video as your proof that window units exchange air but it clearly shows they don't... Literally last week I I took apart a window unit to clean it I took it all apart except for anything hooked up to copper. they don't pull air in or blow air out(unless you leave the vent open and any grower who's not a fucktard would obviously leave it shut (seal it with some caulk) because it can't even cool properly if it's open). that's not how they work like it's basic ass shit and I feel it shouldn't need to be explained. Now that being said can they be sealed better? fuck yeah I caked some grease around where the fan shaft goes into the front(it's divided by a wall) and I used a little bit of spray foam to better seal where the return lines go through that wall.... I just don't get why you would comment about things you have no clue how they work stop giving advice you're all talk no action.

You need a mini split system.

Window ac change the air with the outside air making it impossible to completely close it...

The smell well get out any way with such AC
Ive used a window on a co2 enriched room, I agree the smell does come out. The waste id say was minimal though. Like 14 bucks extra in propane.

If you want to keep it sealed, and maintain the smells, you need to invest in a minisplit A/C...

Window units and portables exhaust, and that exhaust is hot air, so smells travel better (science!) and it will be rank.....

Could always try building up some sort of exchanger, with a cooling unit outside the room n hosed in......

How high are your temps, keep in mind, with CO2 enrichment, you want the temps up higher....

Window shakers can work. Been there done that. They are a pain in thee ass. Ducting that hot air if they are not in an actual window sucks. They can leak grow room air and smell too. But not always. Depends on what you got. And its a question of efficiency. They are better than portables (which suck period) but not even close to a mini split. By the time you add up the costs over a year you could of bought a mini split with the money you spent in electricity. They save so much more juice than shakers. I know....its the initial cash (expensive sumbitches they are) you got to fork over for a split....but trust me. Once you buy a good one with a good seer rating....you will never look back.

So what ends up happening is you install your shaker the best you can. It works for the most part (not nearly the case) but you finally got the coin saved up for a real deal highly efficient split. So you but one. Then you have to redo the whole room (or at least a wall) to toss the shaker and install the split. My suggestion....and take this from a guy whose been there so many times....dont bother with any of it until you got the room and cash ready to do it rite....one time. And when your planning and ready...overbuild and upgrade with whatever you purchase. If you need a 20,000 btu....go 24 or even 28. This applies to all things growing inddors imhe. Need an 10x10 room....go 14x14 if you can. Need 6" air cooled hoods but the eights at the store are nice....get the eights. Fans cfm? Go bigger. Trust me. Overbuild and plan everything for the future so your not tearing apart your rooms later when plants are on deck. Its a pain and more expensive to do shit twice. The only time you should be clearing out...rebuilding....or upgrading a room once shes built and cranking along is when some new more efficient technology hits the market.

I got a portable AC 10000BTU and I have just replaced its back ducting(exhust) to 150mm felxibale duct,am planinig on having afilter in the end of this ducting.

Keeping the AC in the room and have the filter in another room.

The exhust is very strong just checking what kind of filter with low resistance to go with now..

Then you wanna disrespect our country. So fuck you hater you know we are the best at everything in the world and if a foreigner happens to be better than someone here they end up coming here because we don't have kings and queens and wizards and the such. The post i quoted has so much fail in it .
