Grow Room (SOG) Setup

I'll start off by saying this is my first time growing. Let's say I've grown fungus before, but I understand that this is clearly a different beast.

The space I have to work with is 48" x 24" x 60" (4 feet by 2 feet).

The basics I plan on having would be:
- 600 W Full Spectrum LED
- Inline Fan
- Exhaust Fan
- Carbon Charcoal Air Filter

In an ideal world I'd like to be able to harvest about every 2 months to help maximize my otherwise limited space. The eventual goal would be to have a perpetual SOG, but I digress.

I've been through the forums on this site and other sites and am having difficulty finding a clear cut answer or advice on how many plants I should use in this amount of space. I've seen people suggest anywhere from 1 plant to 4 plants per square foot.

Initially I had considered going with soil in order to:
1) Save $$$
2) Allow for Errors

But depending on how many plants I have, I can see how Hydro would be easier in terms of watering/feeding.

With all that said, I have a few questions and would appreciate any feedback.

1) How many plants should I have (I'd be going with an Indica)?
2) Hydro or Soil?
3) Would be for or against using a 600 W Full Spectrum LED?
4) Should I consider SCROG instead and go with fewer plants?

Beautiful! In your SCROG setup, how long do you let them veg for before flipping the switch?

This time lit to long 6 weeks .. Usually 4 weeks but just have to manage the grow through LST , super cropping and just finding a empty hole in the net which is a bitch now lol pretty packed but can't complain all buds coming in ...

Your questions kinda just raise more questions cuz of personal preference on many things. Personally I would just run two plants in hydro and scrog in that size tent. Idk anything about LED lights but if it was a 600w hps you could easily pull a lb every 3.5 months(non perpetual). But everyone does shit differently so you gotta find what's gunna work for what you want.
As for perpetual you'd need a second tent/place to do so and then you'll be set.

Thank you for the reply! I figured I would be opening up a Pandora's Box of questions. But looking more into SCROG, I think I'm leaning that way. I don't want to be that guy who thinks he can tend to 16+ plants on his first rodeo and have some unrealistic yield. A lb every 3.5 months would be great.

If I did a perpetual setup, that means in a separate tent I'd have my plants in a vegetative phase, and after I harvest, move them in and flip to flowering, right?

That's correct, the veg vs flower phase is contingent on the light cycle so they would need to be in seperate tents/rooms.

So if I went with SCROG:
1) If I went with soil, how large of a pot would I need for each plant? I've been looking at the Smart Pots.
2) If I went with hydro, would you recommend I go with a DWC recirculating 2 bucket setup?

Don't know anything about soil so can't even answer the first question lol

I'm no expert, I only run a single bucket dwc and that's really all I know. But if I was you I'd just run two plants in one big/long(long so you can space the plants far apart to allow room for training) res. My understanding of recirc is that then you'd have 2 buckets for plants and a third for the res, so why run 3 containers vs 1 in my opinion. If I had 3+ plants and more space I would then consider recirc.

Mirning Anon, and TC .. I run soil in air pots 4 gallon I have 3 4x4 tents I harvest every two weeks with a two week lap running two week of cycle to recoup clean up and get my girls ready for flower I use 9 girls in each tent.. 660 shps lamps.. For flower and I have a saperarte room to vegg my moms and clones so basically I harvest 9 plants out of first tent clean out and start 9 back up same day to flower.. That's two of three tents...

I run 8 week or 9 week strains so I have three tents giving me 6 weeks to harvest 3 times leaving a two week for a break lol btw if you do Scrog don't due 9 plants 4 or five are plenty as you can see in this pic it's packed with bud sites 4-5 is plenty let vegg for 4-5 weeks then 12/12. Fill in all screen then comes the stretch to fill in more use LST, super cropping and weave to empty holes in your screen. Good luck remember less is better..
