Gavita vs HPS Warehouse Grow

Hey dudes,

I need some advice for a buddy. He has an investor for a LEGAL warehouse grow in Ca. He was going to run 50 x 1,000 watt fixtures. But now we see these new Gavitas out and there has a been a lot of mixed reviews about them. Being around $500 a fixture do you think it would best to stick with the 50k HPS or setup with 30-35 Gavitas instead?

Would it be better to get a setup like this wholesale from China or from our local hydro store (they know whatsup and have pretty good MSRP prices)?

There's a commercial grower on YouTube - medicropper who just recently fired up a 50k gavita warehouse. He's having issues, as most new facilities do, but he also has a lot of insight on running an operation that large. He's pulled well over 3lb per lights with some strains. Personally I think DE are going to be the standard before too long. Longer bulb life, higher sustained output, etc. etc.

If it's between 50 SE an 30 DE, for production, I'd go SE.

Tell him to spend the money on 50 DE's. Nanolux is a cheaper brand than gavita.
X2. I love gavitas but you're throwing almost double the lights with the se hps setup. Gavitas are good but not that good.

How many of these do you think would be equivalent to 50 SE lights? About 30-35? Would Gavita or Nanolux give us wholesale prices do you think? $15,000 just on those lights seems steep. Still need to purchase ballasts etc. And because these are basically bare bulb I'm wondering how many split systems I'd need.

I did financial spreadsheets and with a 50k SE setup I estimated the cost to be $89,000 more or less.

You're wayyyy too low on that number. You'll be buying very subpar equipment with that kind of budget.

Are you planning on renting or buying the warehouse? Renting sucks. Don't do it.

40 DE would probably be equal to 50 SE if and only if you can keep environment right with the DE.

$250,000 man. That will get you setup for success, and success for years to come. (Don't buy shitty equipment in a grow this size, the damages from something simple fucking up are so much bigger)
Will get you a building you own.
And will cover you for the 6 months or so it takes to see a harvest when stating from scratch.

We have to rent at first. We have a delivery service & are submitting applications for a dispensary in the Bay Area. Every warehouse is about $1,000,000 to buy. We've been looking at around 7,000 square feet for this. Veg/clone room, Flower room, Dry room. Soil first cuz I have no experience in hydro & I'm not about to start learning as we set this up. Soil is way cheaper than a hydro setup. Shit might just run 40 air cooled hoods.

If your looking at something that size, get a piece of land and a "steel building". 3 phase 400 amp service. Run two flower rooms on flip flops.

The thing is tho, county regulations. And when it becomes legal an industrial warehouse will be standard because it will be more professional like a laboratory.

Im so annoyed by all the hype about Gavitas. Lights are lights. Fluorescents can only do so much, HPS/MH can only do so much. If you want better results, become a better grower. Constantly do research. Know your plants. Push the limits and experiment continually. Spend $189 per commercial HPS greenhouse fixture and grow your crop. Worry about bells and whistles when you have money to fling around and not pay your employees. ;)

Figure what you think it will cost and leave NOTHING out for the TOTAL...
Now dbl that amount and your looking at what doing it right will cost from the start to finish.....Maybe even some more!

lights are NOT just lights, it's one of the most important part of a quality grow room, genetics would be tops. He wouldn't hang a bunch of floros over gavitas, that's just dumb. He is doing research by asking before buying, duh.
