Best germination method, soil or papel towel ?

It just depends on how much you want to over-complicate things. Never heard of chemical contamination from paper towels, just the increased risk of damaging the tap root.

Soil for me never done any of the other methods, leave seeds in a shot glass wait until they sink or leave them in for 24hrs max then plant straight into your final medium mine usually pop up 4-5 days later
Or whilst in shot glass you can wait until they've sunk keep an eye on them and the tap root will eventually come out but im never at home due to work, this is OK but dint leave it too long or they will drown

OK, Ill try it with the glass and will wait until the tap root come out, then I will use in a solo cup

between your ass cheeks…

There is no "best way" to germinate, I would say try all methods to find your favorite, I've paper towels, cup of water for 48 hours prior to germination, dropped into rock wool, dropped into soil… I always go back to rock wool though (unless i'm testing for germination, than paper towels, its cheaper)

Soaking rock wool than dropping them into it I feel eliminates 2 extra steps and eliminates human error handling seed… there is really just 1 step you drop the seed and wait, success rates amazing for me using this way (95%). Rockwool stays super wet for a few day, this replaces the 48 hour soak and also the paper towel, once the seed germinates you just have to explant the rock wool to another medium.

Other method is 3 part… soak beans in water, move to a paper towel, move to soil… there is a chance to damage the root from paper towel to soil.

my 2 cents

Recently change my method to root riot plugs in a close plastic container on heat mat no more handling/transplanting to medium just insert into medium when ready.

Yup! I've done it several ways, but straight into soil seems to be the best (and oldest ;) )

I did mine in a short glass with distilled water placed in cabinet over refrigerator (dark and warm) 2 days until root tap showed planted in solo cup. Worked for me.

Soak over night in glass of water then over night in paper towel placed on top of tv streamer box for warmth.

I like the nut sack idea suggested above!

However I think it makes sense to put the seed directly into the media you're going to be growing in. In a post on TLG "coot" talks about how the emerging tap root and the biology and chemistry in the media interact from the get go. It seems better to me to connect the tap root with it's natural environment than a bleached paper towel.

I like the paper towel way only cause it's worked 100% with me drop it in the soil soon after then 3 to 5 days later I have grown some cress

I completely agree with you. The only way I could make seedbag germinate is using the paper towel method. Now I finally got some good genes and I want to make it as right as possible. And yes, it's an auto, maybe that's why Nirvana recommend planting in soil.

I decided to plant in soil, 90% coco/perlite and 10% worm compost. Let's see what happens....

Good luck. Do not neglect to keep temps in good germination range not lower than 70 f and preferably closer to 80F. If it's cool where you are a heat mat is a good idea. Most definitely get better germ rates with warmth. (on those expensive seeds)

You'd kick your self if you knocked the water over on that streamer box bye bye tv!!
bro i just knocked my fan over ontop of my atomic bomb and fucked it all up.... broke 2 branches completely off and think i ripped a good bit of roots
