how much Dolomite Lime?

I read on a gardening site that it locks out cal or mag and is not needed.

I second the oyster shell.
I fucked around and switched out my coco for some pro mix hp( peat moss perlite and dolomitic lime) and started needing more cal mag early on. The lockout theory makes sense. And running synthetics i watered to runoff like dude was saying earlier. Well by mid flower my runoff was way low even with added ph up in my water. So a plant that would have been a pound or better in coco looks like probably a half p. It got switched to flower august 15 so its only got. A cpl weeks. Could some oyster shell help me out or is it too late

And will it work with synthetics

anyways in my opinion dolomite lime does not lock out cal or mag.... it ph buffers ur soil/feeding to 7.0 allowing more nutrients to be absorbed....by lowering ur dose of nutes including calmag u will not expeirence a lock out

Thanks my ninjas. Fuckin pro mix sucks. Atleast for my style. Would dolomite or oyster shell help in coco. Not that ive ever noticed any serious ph swings in coco but it doesnt sound like it would hurt

pro mix sounds like it has the same mix as my fertilome ultimate ....peat moss , perlite , dolomite and i love it i didnt even have to feed it any nutes till 2nd-3rd week of veg..... the only difference i see in yours compared to mine is mine as a non ionic wetting agent .... im not even sure what that means.... lol

Guess you can get bad info on a gardening site too.

Just use some common sense here. How is something that is composed of Cal and Mag, lock out cal and mag? OSF is also cal and mag, but the % of mag in OSF is much lower than dolo.

Its about the ratio. We can agree that lockout does happen when one nutrient overpowers another. Dolo is not a hood chiice for rrecycled mixed or no till. May have its place is soiless mediums but idk

yea but it's not going to hurt to mix in a few tablespoons of lime to keep the ph steady
what do you mean its not going to hurt a few table spoons per gallon or what ever ??? truth is Dolomite lime is a fertilizer so unless you have a actual soil analysis done on soil one should be cautious n respect to proper amounts of elements soil needs a 2 - 1 ratio of magnesium and calcium ,, by adding more as in dolomite lime you can easily out balance your soil all and lock other nutrients ,,,,, all together so your fucked either way right so what ?? cause you were worried about ph ??? there are other sources to control ph in your soil

well starting from DWC i will tell you i fucking hate dealing with ph swings as it can completley fuck ur whole world up and have u chasing ghost deficiencys..that is why i switched to soil.i dont mix my own soil i buy great soil at a great price .....Fertilome ultimate... that is already mixedwith dolomite ,peat moss, and perlite....that keeps my ph at 7 and i ration my feeding around 1/2 dose at starting point..

Holy shit, i fuckin feel you on the dwc tip. I started in dwc and went through the same ph battles. I feel like a fuckin grizzled veteran. Still got flashbacks checkin ph every fuckin day and every day it being off one way or the other. Now im still doin a hydro coco grow but i add fresh nutes everyday so it doesnt stray too far. But what do you guys think about using oyster shell in coco drain to waste hydro. Would it even break down. I mean i do throw in some organic junk here and there. And i use bennies once a week or so.
