DIY COB reflectors

Google thepart number. I'm pretty sure when I bought mine they were the last I could find anywhere(but that was a while ago). I had to get them from germany. Also...the adapter/reflector for this is damn near impossible to find too.

There is no official place where we buy most of the parts for DIY...and smaller/secondary components are even harder. You need to google the part number and/or use sites like findchips.com and octopart.com.

Searching the part number was the first thing I did. Either nobody has them in stock or you have to order a minimum of 100. Found an electronics company in bulgaria of all places and emailed them to see if they'd ship it here. If not maybe I'll just cut up a coke can or get a few of those lenses.

I contacted a distributor to purchase the F13839_ANGELINA-XW-B, who then told me to contact Ledil about purchasing a small amount. Ledil then pointed me to the F13838_ANGELINA-XW, telling me it was going to be easier to find (and more soon), as well as the ideal adapter also easier to find. The F13838_ANGELINA-XW is for the CXA35**, so I never thought to look for it, but it fits like a charm on the CXA3070.

So you are using cxa3070's with ideal 3070holders, then 3590 ideal adapter and the 3590 reflectors? If so nice work. Ledil pisses me off... can't answer question without making me do the treasure hunt.
And @tightpockt I have bought at least 52 of everything. And have bought the wrong holders(60 of them) twice(120 wrong holders total) before finding the right bjb holders for the reflector. The stucchi ones they recommend in the sheet...are no where that I or ledil, or stucchi can find.

This is the holder/adapter for the 3070 90* reflector if you can find the reflectors...

Yeah, I'm using CXA3070's with the ideal 50-2234C chiplock, and the ideal 50-2100AN adapter for the 3070 still, but using the 3950 reflectors.

Very interesting. The adapter is what I wasn't sure about. No wonder you didn't think of it at first...who would have other than the makers. One of the wrong things I bought was the ideal 50-2234C...but I guess instead of tracking down 3070reflectors and bjb connectors, I can just order the 3590 reflectors and use the ideal adapters when I need more. Nice...not a waste after all.
Thanks!
The nice thing about the bjb's is that they are holder/adapter in one. But if the reflectors are nowhere...at least there are other options.

EDIT:
The second wrong thing I bought was the ledil holder/adapter...it was wrong for the same reason the ideal adapter was, but I am dumb sometimes. Thankfully that wrongness is what will make it right for the 3590 reflectors. I keep winning! I'll have to change little things in the mounting system for each thing I use/have...but will get them all used in the end I guess.

The bjb's is where I started, and really wanted that holder/adapter in one deal. After not finding a damn thing I went down the list and eventually found out ideal had their own.

Exactly, I would never have thought they cross-pollinate between sizes until their sales rep told me. Which by the way, if you want someone to respond back to you promptly and tell what to get, is the person to go to evidently. I can pass their info to you if you want.

@SupraSPL I see that you ran a test with the lens, Just want to clarify the results. lenses, at this juncture in testing, provide a SIGNIFICANT increase to the diy reflectors you tried. Is that right?

I Would like to see it vs the angelina xw. But if the lens 200-300% im not sure if itll be a fight lol. I am using the 50-2303cr ideal holder. Are there any lenses that will easily mount to this fitting?

You are correct LF, the lens is undisputed winner no matter what I can come up with in terms of reflectors. Greengenes posted his reflector test results at 12" distance he gained 30-40% across the board (with a CXA3070)

The 200-300% figures I showed were at a 16" distance on Vero 18s, so large gains were expected because I would never try to run V18s bare at that distance, but that is the distance we needed to get the correct spread with the lenses on. So a more fair test might be, lenses off at 8" vs lenses on at 16", assuming I was still getting useable light in the same amount of canopy. Also, this is without the benefit of reflective walls. I did the test with almost no reflective assistance from the surroundings, so in a small reflective tent the gains would not be as high.

As far as COB mounts and which reflectors are compatible, unfortunately I have no knowledge at this point. I filed it in my head as "later on down the road it will get sorted out but right not availability and compatibility is all messed up". @Greengenes707 took the hit on that one and ordered a bunch of stuff to check compatibility. @Positivity has figured out a bridge as well.

Myself, I have been just kapton taping-on a few light weight plastic DIY reflectors for now wherever needed. I have added a few short reflectors to the flowering modules on the outside edge of the canopy. It definitely gets the job done in the short term, but I expect that we will figure out a way to securely mount 90-120 degree lenses and maintain a small air gap between the lens and COB.

The optic lighting modules have magnets bolted to the lens and they stick the the steel on the housing. Very cool but of course magnets do not stick to aluminum or copper so that doesnt help us bare heatsink DIYers.

So here's what I keep debating in my mind...I have 4 cxa3070's @ 1.4a in a 2x2 with plenty of height.
I don't know if I'd be better off with lenses further away or bare but closer. I'm thinking bare led would have more light disbursement but lenses would increase light intensity...ugh, confused.
Also, if i were to go with lenses I was thinking of buying them a little big so the edges just barely hang off of the raised portion of the Arctic 64. My thinking is it would allow for air/heat exchange but I dont know that that's even necessary. Any downsides to this?

In your situation lenses and reflectors are pretty close to a waste. 4 1.4a cxa's is plenty in that space.
I would actually say no to lenses. If ornate really set on additions to your light...go reflectors.

Is there a reason you think bare is bad? 99% of all cob grows online have been no reflectors or lenses.

In the end it's all the same PPF. And actually bare might have the most PPF delived if hung/used right. intensity is nice...but bare cobs aren't lacking in it. Lenses are great for small single die chips that are near worthless without more of their buddies packed around, and without lenses to help their relative weakness.

I don't think bare COBs are "bad" I just want whatever will grow the biggest stickiest buds :bigjoint:
I originally wanted reflectors that's why I bought the holders for my second light but I can't find the reflectors anywhere, at least not the one's from ledil, i might just try to modify a flashlight reflector or something similar if I can find one at 90 degrees

Ya, bad was the wrong word. More like not enough/insufficient.
Imo it's bigger no confined spaces that will truly benefit from some sort of optics. Smaller highly reflective areas are much less of a concern.
I'm on the reflector side of the fence.
