Hey everyone first and foremost I want to say thank you for even opening this and reading it. Even if you stop reading this right here and now I appreciate it very much.

Okay so I going to try and sum up this post a little bit about what I'm looking for/to do in Oregon in this first paragraph and go into more detail about myself below. At the moment I live in an illegal state (Texas) where I'm currently growing and I know its not a matter of how but when something bad will happen. So my fiancee and I are planing on moving to Oregon sometime in June. Basically what I'm hoping to accomplish with this post and similar ones I'm going to be putting on other sites (so if you frequent other site and see this pop up that's why lol) is to establish some contacts or leads to help get my foot in the door in Oregon. What I'm hoping for and my ideal situation is to grow for a shop(s) in Oregon. And as a side business setup grow boxes and small grow rooms for recreational growing once measure 91 takes affect July 1. So that's my goals and any help or leads in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

So now that you know about what I'm trying to do, here is a little bit about me. I've been growing here in the lone star state for the past 2 ½ years. I currently use the hempy bucket method as I'm a huge fan of the K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) method of doing things. And to me the hempy bucket is the very definition of this method. In the last 2 ½ years of growing I have help build/built over 20 grow boxes and grow rooms and have a pretty good working knowledge on how it all works. All but 2 of the grow rooms I've help build use the hempy bucket method since I also believe its the easiest method to start with (although I'm sure they've changed to another system by now). The only other method I've set up and helped a good friend run was bio-buckets which I believe to be by far one of the best methods of growing for its phenomenal plant growth and easy of use once you get it going (its just a pain in the ass to get going/setup lol). One thing I am lacking is large scale growing experience since I've never setup or helped with anything over 10 plants. But being in a illegal state I never wanted to take the risk of doing something or being associated with a huge grow op. Not to say the ones I've set up or helped run are any less illegal lol I just felt they were easier to conceal. So as you can see I basically want to do what I'm currently doing now legally in a more understanding state. As of right now I do all this and work a 40 hour a week job as a supervisor in a plastic making company. And I would love to just make cannabis my full time job.

I love Texas I truly do but being as conservative as it is and from having actually lived here most my life I know its gonna be a while before they jump on the band wagon. The reason I would like to move to Oregon and not Colorado or another legal state is I'm wanting to be apart of the green rush and not just show up late to the party.

So again any help or a point in the right direction would truly be amazing. Our move date is pretty much set in stone so whether or not this helps me find some work, my fiancee and I will be living in Oregon come July more than likely in or around the Portland area. So I would also love to just hear from the locals about the city and state in general since I can look up things about Portland on the internet all day. But there is just no substitute for first hand experience.

Feel free to ask me any questions or leave a comment about the state/city I'm looking for all the info I can get. Thanks again in advance!

I wish you good luck! To be honest you will make more money from your experience working in plastic. The west coast is a saturated market from top to bottom. Sure theres always room for one more garden but its not like it was. The people still doing it professionally have been doin this a long time and generally arent to accepting of new people showing up from out of town and trying to take a slice of the pie. The green rush is over, has been for years. Sorry if i sound harsh but im just being honest. Id hate to see you pack up your life and move to another area just to find out your gonna be screwed. My advice for somebody with your level of skill trying to get into the industry is to find a mom and pop grow shop that could use a hand during the week and work your way up from there. Most places can always use a youngster to haul dirt around the shop and and put all the co2 tanks into the corner on weekends, stuff like that. Not only will you get all the knowledge you are missing bit you will most likely meet a few of the big fish and who knows, someone may take to liking you and need a hand trimming or transplating or whatever. Ive been in this game a lonnnng time , and trust me these days thats your best way in.

Thanks for your reply and you don't sound harsh at all. I'm a realist and I know I won't be able to just be handed a warehouse to grow I don't think i could anyway. A mom pop shop is more what I would love to do a smaller more personal grow with a small group of people where I can learn from everyone else. Honestly my fiancee and I have agreed we are still young enough to follow our dreams and interest. We both don't mind struggling (financially) a little bit to pursue these things and start something new for our lives. Thanks again for the reply.its what I'm looking for.

Your welcome and good luck to both of you. It seem like you have the right attitude and mindset anyways so im sure you both will do just fine. The hip thing these days is all the concentrates so I suggest learning as much as you can about those too

Sounds like a nice pipe dream.....It will take you years and years before you will establish a network of trust. 2.5 years of experience wont get it. js. Usually when you want something bad enough...its never instant pudding.

I already make bubble hash and also dry ice hash depending on how lazy I'm feeling. I know the basics of BHO and ISO making but never really got into actually making it.

And I know 2 1/2 years isn't much compared to master growers or well established growers in the industry. That's why I want to move to a legal state where I don't have to worry as much about a cop kicking in my front door taking everything I own and charging me with some bullshit manufacturing and intent to sell charge or some other crazy felonies they can pin on me. Like I said above no matter how safe I am its only a matter of time before something happens and its time I stopped pushing my luck. Especially since there are places we can go that realize that this ban on a simple plant is stupid. I don't wish to move to Oregon and instantly make it like I said I'm a realist. That's why I'm asking for contacts or leads just a place to start looking since I have no knowledge of the area to network myself a little before I make it out there. I want is to be able to legally grow and find other people to help me broaden my knowledge of how to grow this simply complicated plant lol. thanks for y'alls reply's so far I appreciate it.

after going to the olcc meeting on recreational rules. you may have to establish residency for a few years before you can even apply for a comercial licnese. They are also going to limit the number of licenses given so we dont have a huge glut and the prices drop off.

you can come here and grow 4 plants legally in your back yard or indoors depending on the zoning rules they are talking about (no growing in city limits)

good luck. there are a LOT of people ahead of you already established with very large grows ready to be licensed.
