i think that the rich man is sitting in hell to this day still wishing he had that drink of water. the fact that a story is being told regarding a topic does not mean it is not a true story.
show me some hell then? where is it? wheres the truth in it? map please?
And lets not say his "own personal hell.."
why would you not need water or food in heaven, but you do in hell?
a story was told about jedi far far away, and untill we invent light sabers and death stars, its a story, and without proof,IT IS NOT REAL.

there isn'tstone piece of actual scientific evidence that has ever been found that contradicts the Bible.
youre right..the science in the bible is there, but science, not the stories.
weve got snakes, they dont talk,we got rain, but not for 2 months,we got bushes with no talk, water with no walking..
yes, science is in there, and not contadicting anything..its the other way around..
plus,remember..science doesnt exist? unless god says so..lol,or a christian need it unexpectedly when god is not found...

the story of Lazarus and the rich man in luke is told by Jesus as a warning of hell. in Matthew 10:28, Jesus warns to fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell; Matthew 25:46 warns of who will go to everlasting punishment; in Mark 43:48 it is again Jesus warning about hell; in 2 Thessalonians it talks about the eternal punishment; in Hebrews 10 it warns about the fury of the fire in hell; in 2 Peter God warns that He did not spare the angels when He cast them into hell; Mark 9:48 talks about hell "where the worm never dies;" Ecclesiastes 8:10 it warns of the grave and many other references throughout the entire Bible referencing the awful reality of hell.

check this video out:
http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/pages/doctrine/the-awful-reality-of-hell.htm

the video doesn't do hell justice as to how terrible it will be...
It's cool and all, but lets be a little less southern baptist about it! I have seen the baptist... James 2:14-26- faith without works is a dead faith. I have heard the hellfire and brimstone sermon! Where are the christians that really want to help people IN REAL LIFE! I was turned off because of all the snotty people that feel that their walk is blameless and you are a real piece because you are not like them! I was really tempted to join the catholics because they actually do things to help the community!!! Baptist? Can you say "mission trips" to some poor country and share their hardship for maybe a week or so. Then, come back to America with a belly full of pride and self worth because they lived in a poor country for 2wks.
I had a teacher that stood infront of the classroom and said that everyone that is in the adult program is dumb because they "lived their life then realized that they made a mistake"! My point is, they are fast to cast judgement! If you are not "in" then you are "out"!
People ruined religion!

first, we would need to clarify that the Bible talks about two different things: sheol that refers to the grave and genna which refers to hell. the Bible references that one day genna (hell) will be thrown into the Lake of Fire and be removed forever into outer darkness.

who said we don't need water or food in heaven? the Bible does make references that there will be food and drink. when Jesus was resurrected and visited His disciples, He ate and since we will be changed to be like Him, one can suppose that we too will eat and drink.

you say there is no proof but i say to you creation declares the Glory of God. that is your proof.

i suppose the story of Balaam and his talking donkey in Numbers then would really make you laugh :-)

i never said science doesn't exist. science sometimes needs to catch up with God and His Works in regard to their understanding of our world, and when science takes God into account as the Creator, it makes it even more wonderful as discoveries are made about us and the world we live in.

don't let corruptible man define God and His Son. as i said before, every single one of us are guilty and worthy of condemnation. it is so sad the amount of people who will die in their sins because they focused on another person's life instead of their own.

You know, my cousin is spreading the same word!!!

We are both veterans. We are both getting VA benefits and he actually gets more money than I do... I own a home and he does not because he feels that owning a home will be a barrier between the people he wants to preach to(homeless). He has been strung out on meth for the last 3yrs trying to preach to people! He did not want to go to pastoral ministry school with me but he is a wealthy homeless bum giving everyone the wrong idea about God!!! Why is it that people like that think that they are right? Are the non-meth preachers spreading a better word?
Did I mention that he makes $2,800 a month from the VA and he has a guaranteed home loan, but GOD told him to not buy a home! I hope you do more than tell people about hell and put the fliers on people's cars... Because that is not works, nothing listed is works! What about christians like me that are tired of the dumbasses and uneducated trying to tell people about god, when they only offend people...
"Come with me, I will make you fishers of men"(Matt 4:19). He didnt say to make an ass of yourself and tell everyone that they are going to hell... Really, it reminds me of grade school when the other kids always said "your going to hell for that"!

Now I do enjoy the "everyone is guilty and sinful" argument. To whom and further more by what standard? The baby who dies shortly after birth? The mentally disabled who couldn't comprehend in the first place?

Nah, there's no place for such unsubstantiated claims. My philosophy in life usually aligns with existentialism, with a dash of nihilism. Meaning is bestowed by the individual.

a talking ass in the bible? nooo...i dont believe it..you sure you dont have a copy narrated by george bush?
still backing up fairy tales with more storys..give me something outside of the bibles rhetoric..i mean, you keep saying"in the bible.." thats no proof, just words and blind followings..show me the talking donkey.show me the dead man alive after 3 days of death(btw,i think jesus had a brain anurism, went in a coma, and woke up insane..THAT can explain alot..and its believable).
youll never be able to,but will believe in it to that day you die.its much more easier than admitting wrong, and WAY softer on the ego,the main reason imo faith believers wont change...they cant be wrong,or seem like fools..years of self assurance only to be proven wrong can ruin most egos to the point of depression and suicide..prayers cant help then...
zoloft,maybe.:-)

if i were to die from sin,i woulda been found face down in the lap of my ex at 12years old.

By the way, I have been banned from a Christian college where I live! I got the hellfire and brimstone instead of the forgiving side of jesus!

john barlow said it best(forgive his biblical reference to matthew 26:52..it tied the song together.)

Well, there ain't nobody safer than someone who doesn't care
And it isn't even lonely when no one's ever there
I had a lot of dreams once, but some of them came true...
The honey's sometimes bitter when fortune falls on you
So you know I've been a soldier in the armies of the night
And I'll find the fatal error in what's otherwise alright
But here you're trembling like a sparrow, I will try with all my might
To give you just a little sweetness...
Just a little sweetness...
Just a little light.
I have always heard that virtue oughta be its own reward,
But it never comes so easy when you're living by the sword
It's even harder to be heartless when you look at me that way
You're as mighty as the flower that will grow the stones away
Even though I been a stranger, full of irony and spite
Holding little but contempt for all things beautiful and bright,
Something shines around you and it seems, to my delight
To give me just a little sweetness...
Just a little sweetness...
Just a little sweetness...
Just a little light.

and dont forget virtue is its own reward..you dont need the carrott of heaven for that donkey to pull your cart around.

first, thank you for your service as well as your cousins. drug addiction is a terrible struggle and i wouldn't wish that on anyone. certainly men are fallible in their interpretation of the Bible, that is why one should always go directly to the source for themselves.
do you want to have the sin of your cousin and the struggles he is going through be your barrier to discovering a truth? warning someone to not run into a burning building or drive over a cliff is not being an ass. it's just that: a warning and you can do with it as you please. that is free will.
