I did the sex, drugs, and rock and roll lifestyle for decades - partied with major label bands - actually got 3 guys from Little Feat high backstage at the Warner Theatre in DC before their second show and snorted coke w/ Blue Oyster Cult [ and some opening acts if I wanted to name drop,,,,ha! ] Great times....I'll never deny that I loved that time. I'll also never deny that - for me - these days are better.

Fair enough, but as long as drugs do their thing, I'm gonna keep on rocking em. Granted I'm cold turkeying on smokes at the first of the month. Dumbest drug out there. Coke never interested me. Why take something you always want more of? Besides pharma speed gives me the awesome feeling of getting shit done (besides writing, god I suck on speed writing.).

Basically I go right to the source. Doctors have the best drugs. Cheap, pure and deal with professional. Why deal with somethings that has been stepped on? Only one of reason I've not touched coke or H

I am having trouble understanding Matthew 10:35, but it may have something to do with it?

Bitter towards christians.
Why waste your time looking towards humans for some sort of saving experience? You should look elsewhere, and you likely know where that is.

Regarding Matthew 10:35, I'd suggest reading the entire chapter rather than plucking out the single verse. The context should make it understandable for you.

One of the interesting [ to me ] verses, is where Jesus states he did not come to bring peace to the world. Note that verse the next time someone points to bad conditions in this world as somehow being proof of no God, or a faulty God.

Also - read Micah chapter 7, which is the same message as in Matthew 10. Holler back if you still have trouble, amigo.

Not to be rude Amos, but the same could be said about reading a full book instead of cherry picking quotes, from an anti evolution website, unsurprisingly (wonderful how Google is so great).

That is all. I wouldn't think it would change your faith, it's not necessarily suppose to. It will however given you insight why evolution is a very solid theory.

I was not really having trouble with it, I was just being a smartass. It was my answer to your question.
I have been trained in the bible you know! Your telling me that I should do an Inductive Bible Study when I read a chapter. Go ahead and google it!

Inductive bible study is a complex approach to reading the scripture and it should be taught in sunday school so that the fools will have a REAL education. Christians would call it their "double edge sword"!

I'm kinda confused by you Mustangfarm, not sure what you are railing on.

I'm high though, good ol' Goji may cause some confusion, but I don't think it's that.

Depending on the specific point or topic, you make a fair point on reading context.

And yeah, I'm fairly certain none of the main players in this thread are changing teams. On the otherhand, there's folks who are thinking it over because of this thread. How 'bout that!

Oh, well, I enjoyed readin both chapters, so no loss for researching trying to help you out.

Beware of 'Bible trainers'. Lots of fakes, just as prophesized.

How are you supposed to be a believer without a community? I felt like I was rejected by my community!
So what? Who gives some community devine power over anyone? Your issues are between you and God, but if you want to take the convenient out, keep blaming faulted humans for your own condition.

To ask a fair, personal question, are you a biblical literalist, or one of the schools of thought on allegory Amos?

The reason I ask, is because that may play a role in your responses, which in turn I think, can make a conversation more interesting and productive (and I don't mean changing minds or anything).

I dont know what to think right now! I came back from deployment pretty fucked! I had been a christian for a while and it was actually part of my decision to join the army.
I am having trouble sorting this out in my head. let me smoke one!

I came back with a huge amount of pain. I had the chance to go to school for whatever I wanted, I chose God! I really felt great while I was in this college! It was like I went from the greatest thing on earth to total rejection because I drank some tequila.

I dont like to talk about my deployment much because people who do usually are lying! I have lost friends, like I had to put them on a stretcher and put them on a helicopter to find out that they didnt make the flight to the hospital! I have seen a kid shot in the head and he was still alive! When I would get hit with an IED, I would shoot at houses just because I wanted to kill someone. I had no right as a human to shoot at innocent people! I am pretty sure that I did shoot someone on a highway overpass as we were driving through. We never stopped, so I will NEVER know!
What is a drink of tequila compared to that!!!

I really needed God in my life and probably a support community.

I got drunk as fuck and I had a anxiety attack and scared some people! My hands were shaking and I am a big guy, I scared those poor little kids to death I think. They never saw anyone as real as I was at that time!!! Dude, people are straight up crazy comming back from deployment. I think that I was trying to kill myself by drinking, it is the only way I can explain it.

Can you understand how I felt let down by my christian community? I was in Baghdad when Fallujah was cleared out by the marines, they are only 40mi from each other and the Fallujah "Freedom Fighters" had to go somewhere!
Sadly we don't do enough for our vets. Thank you for your service.
Thank you!

I can't even imagine, I'd be lying if I didn't say I wasnt a coward. War is not for me.
