Marijuana was deemed to be illegal in the USA because of a couple reasons.
1.Because a large majority of legal and non legal mexican immigrants were known to produce and posses marijuana.
Illegalizing it made it easier and more acceptable to punish and deport these mexican immigrants because they were obviously detested by the majority of caucasian americans. To a lesser extent this goes the same for the hippies 30 years later in 1960.
This also fills up the prison system , pumping more money to the government as well
2. To secure the nations logging industry companys (some of the richest and most powerful companies on earth), which would have been destroyed by industrial hemp production. This is because hemp obviously produces around 5 times as much paper as trees do. this gets familiar, sounds like the gasoline/ free/ renewable energy crisis right?
if we could have free energy or renewable fuel resources, big oil companies would die. So they control the market as it develops, hindered by their powerful grasp. This gives them time, to infiltrate the new emerging industry, and take it as their own at their own time, only after theyve sucked the planet dry of oil, which is worth more to them and their empires than renewable energy industry.
The same goes for legal marijuana.
Its interesting that the government has allowed these states to legalize recreational use after such a long war on cannabis.
this is because they have bided their time, hindered legalization, to allow the continued decimation of North Americas forest, freeing up more land for walmarts, mcdonalds, and parking spaces. Land , wood, and trees are worth more than what hemp can offer alone.
Only now can marijuana be legalized, because it opposes no threat to the capitalist economy.
The damage has been done, empires created, fortunes made, forests and entire ecosystems decimated, and prisons filled to capacity.
Now that they have control, not only can they legalize it, but by basing their buissness model off the system set up by the medicinal marijuana businesses, the government controls all marijuana sales and rakes it the cash through taxes, stealing money from the sick and the pot headed, charging 5 times more times more than some asshole off the street.
The medicinal market only exists to make money for the government, as well as legalized cannabis.
So tell me, when it comes to legalization.....who really won?
Thanks.
