Hi all, weekly update, Day 43 of 12/12.

Another good week with these girls. They're fattening up now, buds are visibly bigger & the colas are getting heavier :)

JTR is now frosting, or more like icing up nicely, I love this strain for that and the CMH seems to be up to the job well. It's starting to cloud up, still a lot of clear but main buds are starting to turn. I'll let it go until done but can't see it lasting another 2 weeks.

PPP is just bulking up, nice fat buds/colas on this one. Frost is starting and they're getting sticky. I'm liking the colour of the buds and it smells dank :) Still 2-3 weeks left on this one I think, first grow but looks like it can mature for a bit yet.

Both have nice size buds all the way down, no real popcorn, nice, should add some weight in the end :bigjoint:

Here they are from both ends of the room, PPP is closest to the door:

finally pics. There's been too many letters and words.

both looking great. Very frosty
lol, yeah let the pics tell the story, posting some from last round under the LED's below for comparison(?), no comparison...

I love looking at the pics under this lighting!

Its so nice to see more of a natural light on them...
It's great, no mods to take pics, just walk in and shoot. It's a little tougher to get the angles for highlighting the frost. Only thing it does with taking pics at certain angles, there's a noticeable yellow tinge on the leaves, they're more green than that to the eye. You can see it in the first pic of the 2 plants, that "yellow" is the light from the CMH hitting the top of the leaves and you can see it right down to the bottom leaves, nice penetration.

For comparison/perspective, posting a couple of pics of the last round with the LG LED's at Day 44 of 12/12, not even comparable. The large buds on JTR in the LED run (the JTR in the second pic is the mother of the JTR in this round) are more like the side buds in this round. Same medium, same nutes, only difference is 5Gal vs. 3Gal pots this round, and the lighting.
The difference in price between the 450W LG LED panel (300W actual pull) and a DIY version of this CMH/Philips ballast/bulb, 120v converter, and a basic vertical parabolic reflector would be about $100, think it might be worth the difference? Lol

I posted this before, maybe it'll help.

$220 for the ballast and bulb and socket

That's the best deal I've seen with this tech
Yeah, that's the one I'm referring to, that's a different bulb though (all start vs agro, I believe the agro has a bit of a premium, maybe another $20-$30), the $220 price listed is only bulb/220/240v ballast/socket, no 120v converter, or reflector, thinking about $300 from Advanced tech for the 315w/Elite Ago 3100k , and buying a separate 120v converter & parabolic reflector on e-bay or the like. The kit I bought was more but included everything and the reflector is pretty high end, it would be in the range of $100-$150. If you ran it bare or with a cheap vertical reflector you could stay under the $300 mark. That LG 450 panel is about $250, even less of a difference.

Very sexy light gotta love that CRI and how crisp that color is and the plants seem to love it too. Happy growing!

The grow force is strong with this one. This CMH grow is just gorgeous and I'd say the difference pictures are pretty compelling! I've got a craigslist alert set for a setup on the cheap as soon as it pops up!
Yeah thanks. it's a pretty compelling case so far, I don't have long to go with JTR so we'll see some initial dry weight results in 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. Cheapest link may be Advanced Tech, never dealt with them but they have been recommended by others here.

389 in the jars for me......
Very nice, I can see this thing easily pulling 1gpw with any decent producing strain, including the overhead of the 120v converter and a full footprint. Good run, you're over the 1gpw, your pull at the wall was showing 359w all-in, nice haul bongsmilie

loving this light. had mine for a week now, replacing a 400w 3x3. two more will replace my 600w 4x4 soon.

thanks, this thread was very persuasive.
Hey, nice typo, pretty sure you'll be pleased with the results, these things are almost too good to be true for the price range. Did you go bare-bulb, DIY with reflector or the Sun System? 2 in a 4x4 will smoke it...

Sounds like a nice setup, have considered sog, just seems like a lot of work and I travel so it wouldn't work for me. Would be cool if you posted a thread or some results when you get there.
