Mesquite grilled steak, medium rare, thinly sliced. Softened mushrooms, red and green bell peppers and onions. Grilled in a flour tortilla for the best steak quesodilla this side of the Rio.

Is quite pricey but really nice food. This is one of my wifes fave places in town. We both had a special that was on, John Dory. It['s not a very common fish (and pricey @ 40 euro for each dish), but the flavour is awesome. If you see it, I would recommend you try it.

Not the prettiest of fish by any means, but dam tasty as....

dayum man 40e each. where's it native to? mars lol glad it was tasty man.

I went to a wash out BBQ on sat. made a boat load of bangers. missus volunteered me to make them again... everyone brought something from their home style of cooking, we had a load of awesome greek food, feta & spinach filo pie, fresh tzatziki and the brazilian guy make brownies haha he was like so you guys bbq in the rain huh!? and there's no spit to roast on?! what? I think they do things a bit different in brazil... he reckons our meat over here is utter crap and way over priced. he's refused to buy it and subsequently lost about half a stone in 3 months.

Went out for supper yesterday and had pork loin medallions with shrooms in a stilton sauce.

Damn you DST. John Dory is an amazing fish. Native to much of europe. Fucking expensive, especially with about a 25-30% yield. I typically don't like the term when describing food but it really does just melt in the mouth. also called peters fish because of folklore stating st peter dropped a coin in the sea and the fish caught it, so he picked the fish up to remove the coin and left a black spot where his thumb had been. Science claims otherwise.

I'm on call today so not sure if it's worth getting anything fancy for dinner, might just flour some whitebait and make up some tartar sauce.

I saw it had a few different names, didn't know the background. I first had it in Menorca. We had the whole fish cooked in like a lovely gravy with local potatoes, the wife and I were like, this is AMAZING! I think this was the first time I have seen it on another menu! had to have it.

This was last nights dinner (totally getting into the Roqufort burgers, hahaha)....I should have taken a pic after the first bite with the stinky gooey blue cheese running out but at that stage taking pictures of food is beyond me I am afraid. We had baked potatoe and bake Sweet Paprika with olive oil and balsamic.

I had a bottle of this to go with it.....was also nice with a Cassis flavoured Deep Blue joint!

We do indeed. Think we'll have one tonight, chicken sate or something like that.....reminds me, I should boil some rice so it's cold for making fried rice later:)

i love the cheaper & generally less used cuts. lap of lamb and belly pork are awesome done right.

I had a quick and easy corn on the cob w/ spicy cous cous and roast med veg. been playing around with the recipe and have come to the conclusion that feta cheese is at it's best when cooked. raw is a waste imo.

no pics though i was hank marvin. i'll make more of an effort tonight... maybe

I am no fish expert Nutes & Nugs, I think it goes by a few names so could well be, but it's a salt water fish I believe as well.

No Braai for us last night, it rained early on so I just done the sates uder the grill, with spicey peanut sauce and fried rice....my fried rice has a whole gan of shit in it (including peas), egg, bacon, spring onion, onion, peppers, ketchup asin, (curry powder - which is how you make either singapore rice or singapore noodles - mee goreng). It's also nice if you have limes to squeeze on top. I also topped the rice with "seroendeng" which is basicalyl roasted coconut and peanuts.....sorry like, Don, no pics, too freakin hungry for pics.:)

I'm curious man, did you get a fresh coconut? my lass loves coconut for some reason but hates the milk for some inexplicable reason lol.

Nah man, I just bought the seroendeng ready made, we get loads of Indonesian bits and bobs over here what with it being a previous colony. Saying that, the Malays and Indonesians have fairly got around the world, there is a whole Cape Malay thing in South Africa as well. I love the Malaysian/Indonesian based coconut dishes, too lush!!!

I'm not a fan of coconut milk from "fresh" coconuts, but buy yourself a good quality green coconut one day. Bit of lime juice, and god damn that's a tasty drink, and you can then cleaver it in half afterwards and scoop out all the jelly (that in an old coconut, would be the typical brittle tasteless white flesh)
