Impaired to drive STONED???

I think there is an important point that is going over the heads of many of you who seem opposed to what I'm saying.

I don't hesitate to drive stoned at all, I know my abilities are not diminished by any appreciable amount. I drive differently to compensate for my possibly lower response time.

Having said that, driving stoned has to be illegal. If you go around saying "hey legalize weed" and then follow it up by saying "driving stoned is fun, and it shouldn't be illegal" you're going to have more opposition than you can shake a stick at.

A lot of people smoke weed, but even more of them don't. Many of those people are soccer moms and shit. They freak out when little Johnny gets some dirt under his finger nails. She don't want to have to scratch off a stick figure family member from the back of the mini van.

These people are not rational. It needs to be made illegal to drive stoned. It is a very small price to pay to be able to legally grow it and smoke it.

I drove on mushrooms once. Twice actually.

It was very strange.

The problem arose because I ate them while I was driving, and continued down the road for the next couple of hours.

It was really tricky when it started to kick in. Am I tripping yet or is that car really beside me.

Study: Fatal Car Crashes Involving Marijuana Have Tripled
SEATTLE (CBS Seattle) – According to a recent study, fatal car crashes involving pot use have tripled in the U.S.

“Currently, one of nine drivers involved in fatal crashes would test positive for marijuana,” Dr. Guohua Li, director of the Center for Injury Epidemiology and Prevention at Columbia, and co-author of the study told HealthDay News.

Researchers from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health gathered data from six states – California, Hawaii, Illinois, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and West Virginia – that perform toxicology tests on drivers involved in fatal car accidents. This data included over 23,500 drivers that died within one hour of a crash between 1999 and 2010.

Have fun killing babies.
So 1 in 9 drivers smoked pot in the last 30 days or so. Every driver drank water in the last 30 days (well, except some of the drunks). Hydrated driving should be a felony.

I don't understand the people here who are saying "marijuana doesn't effect me. I can drive just fine while high". If marijuana doesn't effect you why are you smoking it in the first place?

Marijuana is a "mind alerting drug". That is why you divulge in it. By trying to lay claim to the fact that it doesn't impair the ability to drive only makes you look like more of a "pothead". You are feeding the stereotype. If you want marijuana to be accepted and respected by the general public you need to act mature while using it. Mature, responsible people don't get high and drive.

Cant wait for recalls to these systems, when they start failing in 10yrs and brakes locking up randomly from soldier joints melting or whatever case may be.... its way to new technology to be installing in every new car. People are insane to trust this crap...

Think about carsnow. Mainly dealership fixes cause all exspensive tech. So your going to be stuck fixong for 2k at dealership or having o option to drive the car.
I like my vehicle I have now, Immune to EMP, zero electronics. Power nothing. Has never broken down or left me without a way to get home in over 32 years now. Simple enough for me to fix just about anything that could happen to it. Built like a tank and can go places most vehicles will die trying to get to.

I hate seeing all these new bulletins and stories of weed now ALL OF A SUDDEN affecting such huge population. Especially that a dispensary open and driving accidents rose...

Weed had long been around an i doubt the percentage of smokers went much higher because it being legal... only difference is better product and more local. So where was all thus huge driving concern before it was 'medical marijuana'

I do agree that smoking will impair and CAN, not "will" cause an accident which is not ok. The goverment has plenty of access to resources and can make a reasonable test... problem is, theyre so used to doing what they want regardless wgat we say. Therefore, they will start arresting people based on a test which wont accurately read . Then "STUDIES" will arise that "AGREE" with them.

I got really high and went driving this morning and this stupid woman driver pulled out in front of me in a 55 mile an hour zone. I had to slam on my brakes and swerve into the other lane to avoid her.

Women are distracted by everything so to ensure the safety of civilization they should not be allowed to operate motor vehicles. Think of the children!!

That one isn't actually mine, I don't post any pictures of easily identified things, mine is is a different color and has a roof top tent, and a custom rear bumper with mounts for 2 jerry cans and a spare tire. otherwise, pretty much the same, same winch, tires, snorkel, ARB Bumper, Lites, blah blah blah. I also have ARB air actuated locking front and rear Diffs which I regeared from 4.10 to 3.73 to compensate the H42 4 speed tranny for the extra large tires. Mine also has the original inline 6 cylinder engine, the one pictured has a Cummins Diesel. I would love to have a 12HT in the beast, but the 6 does fine because of 200 lb/ft of torque available at 800 RPM to a max of 260 at 1200 RPM.

You don't have to do much to these to make them very capable 4 wheel vehicles, they come that way stock. Just adding lockers will get you through 90% of anything you care to try. Some of them came with factory lockers, but those are rare and none came to the US. I can see why your brother only added more horsepower for more get up and go. I don't drive my cruiser on the highways much, gravel roads and terra firma mostly. Its geared low, I can get out and walk alongside it as it crawl over things.

The only bad things? Parts are expensive and getting harder to find, also the fuel mileage sucks. 14MPG lifetime average. Most people see 12, so my light foot helps.

See? I knew this was coming. This is one of the horrors of legalization that no one thinks about. It is already in CO. They are crafting legislation.

They have their road side tests. Yep. Its here. And it ignores what we all know well.

- you can only get so high. It is not alcohol.
- any test shows usage last month, not usage today
- there is no way to establish a level of impairment

Solution. The Doctor advising the Legislature Committee crafting the law says, "Simple. Zero Tolerance."

They don't know the levels, or the time frames or the imparment, if any.

Simple horror. Keep it medical and under the radar. These same concerns are being surfaced in Washington and Florida.

I will vote against legalization in California this fall. I told you all, there will be backlash. There will be a big self rule fight about this. There will be all manner of ways to harsh our mellow.

MMJ forever.
Shit man, Ive driven so many times stoned that I cant even remember not driving stoned...

Ever had to switch on the radio to "keep you straight" when pulling up to a police checkpoint?
