LED vs. HID Double Ended Bulb

i will never measure up to the standards of led elitism i am far too polite and willing to freely share my knowledge
KNNA shared his knowledge freely years ago and helped me build my first DIY LED. He shared it on to gardenscure and said RIU was overwhelmingly unreceptive to his knowledge. LED hating is a tradition with some. Ironically, those same haters will soon be growing with LED.

you Keep saying that, been hearing it for years, HOW much money will you spend before this actually happens?????????????????
We"haters" are just letting you waste all your time and money searching for something new, WHEN you find it and it is plug and play and proven, we will jump on your bandwagon. Until then, you just have some pretty pictures.

That lady yielded 58 grams of unbelievably stinky diesel nugs. HSO Desert Diesel I will definitely run it again.

How about this, 10 fat long colas of dense stinky bud, 3-4 zips but still drying so don't have the numbers yet.

There's plenty of literature out there ,that suggests and explain in detail ,
every reason why led herb is by far of superior quality than the crappy HID herb ....
Once you try led herb ,there's no 'going back " ,to the tasteless ,grassy ,weak HID buds ...:peace:
its posts like this above that show how some led users are clearly "intoxicated" on something perhaps a little stronger than THC

look at these ridiculous statements below

1 led herb is by far of superior quality
2 crappy HID herb
3 tasteless grassy
4 weak HID buds
5 Once you try led herb ,there's no 'going back "

these are some very bold unsubstantiated claims which i am quite sure many of the elite led community believe in order to "fit in" to the clique
they must believe this shit or they maybe shunned

hmm is led growing a type of religion ?

I never said that until COBs. It is a lot more plug and play than LED used to be.

They may just be pretty pictures to you, but to me they are jars full of nugs. I don't care if it is proven today or next year. I am just showing the results so far.

When they finish green they are overferted. Then you are stuck trying to "cure" the farmyness out of it. I like a solid fade, little or no cure required, smokes best fresh (2-4 weeks in the jar). My goal is to grow boutique organic buds, the very best that I can possibly grow.

Yes there are still a few white pistils, but that lady sat in the dark room for a few days before getting the chop and I am very familiar with that cut so I knew it was time to pull it.

Why does anyone care what lights others spend their money on..

I dont understand the need to enter a lighting forum to criticize people who choose a different lighting method

LEDS efficiency is improving rapidly and I believe now is a great time to look at making the switch....but again... why do guys who use HID care what others use...

, this is a FORUM, for the discussion of different ideas.

Not too shabby I like the slight fade, a good sign that it might have good flavor, although in a perfect world I prefer the 10 smaller but denser colas to get the same 3 zips because the big fattys tend to be a bit fluffy and the insides shaded out. So I select for the stretchier hybrids rather than the indica doms.

HSO Bubba Kush in the center. Dense nodes indica dom, big and fat but not the quality I was looking for so I let these types go.

Ya you never know, could be grassy can't tell from the look. The bigger yielders can be tricky in that way but he got a decent fade so it depends on the variety.

I stand by the argument that LED bud has more flavor/stink. I have run my favorite cuttings under both HPS and LED many times. There really is a big difference it is not just LED rhetoric.

My favorite Ace of Spades cutting under HPS:

And under LED. Much denser, awesome color and more flavor.

like you said..."I" as in you right?

that plant is (plushberry(F) x purple kush/gsog)(M)....POLY,mutt,pollen chuck..i made.that is just the one pheno i choose to keep.

"insides shaded out." maybe with LED,not with the grows "I" have done under hps.

that bud was not fruity, more on the dark thick hash type smells

At least with leds I don't have problems with rfi from ballasts repeatedly frying the radio power meter on my house (3times). Or frying the microprocessor board on appliances (twice). My peace of mind has increased greatly since i unplugged my hids. A digital ballast can turn your house into a radio beacon. You can test yours with a portable am radio if you are curious. I haven't completed a grow yet with leds (week four flowering right now) but I'm optimistic and enjoy the coolness they run at (no need for air cooling). Lower power bills are nice too, if the results turn out well.

Just pointing out there are other reasons to make the switch than just being unsuccessful with hids. It's inevitable that this tech WILL vanquish hids in time. I think we are moving out of the disappointing early adopter phase into a more mainstream era for leds. Even to a non technical person, it's clear that rapid improvements in leds are accelerating while old hid tech is stagnating. When was the last 'breakthrough' in hid lighting design/output? Water jacketed reflectors? 'Superlumens?' LOL.

I have a storeroom full of ballasts, reflectors, ducting, inline fans, etc. Possibly approaching obsolescence although my jury will be deliberating for another five weeks or so. Ultimately, the market's direction will be swung by the results of current led growers more than any other single thing. If we do well, retailers will respond by adding more led products at the expense of hid. Also, current DIYers will be taking their efforts into product development, bringing down prices on what is a basically cheap tech, much easier for noobs to use than any other lighting out there, Leds could turn out to be the desktop computer of indoor growing.

(I have had much tea this morning, forgive my babble.)
