you're the one trying to revise history here, not me.
no.......I'm asking you questions about history, and have been very open to your views. your position is, an army of a million white men, fought for 5 years, losing almost 400k men...........to free black Americans. I must admit I'm perplexed as why I never hear you extol the virtues of these fallen heroes. a million.........wow.

no, BNB. Buck says an army of white men fought, for 5 years, losing 400k dead, to free black men, an........I believe him :)
As they went along freeing the slaves, they forced them into service of their army.

Reports say many wished to stay with their masters.

Regardless of what buck says, many slaves lived with middle class people who just owned a hand full of slaves and they got pretty close.

i've never disputed that some slaves may have been treated well....for property.

but that doesn't change the fact that they were property, viewed as subhuman, often mistreated, abused, whipped, and even tortured.

should we get into the details of how many children were sold away from their families too? i believe some states may have made the practice illegal in the early 1800s, but that didn't stop it from happening frequently.

slavery was an evil institution, and you are taking donalekiddo's side in being an apologist.

and no matter what the distraction, nothing will change the fact that slavery was the main reason for secession as listed by the states who seceded.

I'm not an apologist for it, I don't think there is anything to apologize for.

I condemn those who abused slaves, just as I would one who abused children or animals.

I probably have slightly less serious condemnation for those who captured and traded in slaves.

I have no problem with someone who inherited a large farm and number of slaves to tend it to make them wealth.

I would too. And so would you had you been born into it. I know you can't or won't admit that, and i believe that you would have freed your slaves if you, as you are now, were sucked back into time and made the heir of a plantation, I think you would refuse it, even if you knew you wouldn't be coming back to 2014.

But I don't condemn someone for participating in a legal and socially acceptable behavior. Even if it is offensive to our modern notions.

Rape a slave child, beat them because it's Tuesday, yeah that's wrong.

Inherit them, or hell even go buy them and use them for economic or personal gain, I'm good with that.

Are you suggesting african slaves were so dumb as to not be able to speak?

They didn't teach them to read buck, but they spoke (as best they could) just as they do now.
i was making an allusion to your rape of an invalid because you said she "grunted just so" or some crazy shit like that.
