Ahhh yes.
Time
The mother of many a peaceful man.
Like a fine wine we have mellowed with age.
How's the weather there? Lotta flooding this winter for you guys. I just experienced 3 seasons in less than 48 hours.

Likewise.
only had to get ugly 3 times in last 2 years (quite an accomplishment round here) they make it necessary by being totally unreasonable or welching. quite frustrating. Latest one is still under a rock somewhere hiding.LOL

Shit looked biblical on my BBC newsfeed. Not many speptics over there on global warming eh?
I have to be honest mate i did not pay a great deal of attention to it
i guess that sounds bad, but it was about 100 miles from me
and i do not live near any rivers that could flood
so it was kind of country folk that got flooded

I hear ya. I was the same way when we had a massive ice storm years back
It made an impression on me because i was in a flood once and my sisters were terrified. me, the eternal optimist, found it exciting.
the whole thing where the rail link to the west counties got shut down was kinda shocking. civilization looked pretty fragile

yeh i remember hearing something about that now i think they have fixed it now lol
if it had happened somewhere more financially important it would of been fixed quick
those towns with rivers running through them are countryside
they do not have anything to protect them if it rains very heavy the river will flood them
in london they built the thames barrier because london is more important

I saw a documentary on that project but i don't recall the financials. Must have been pricey. Gov't treats infastructure the same here from what I've seen.
Just curious, have you travelled much? i've been all over the states and canada. Cuba once. I really want to head down to the carribean this winter for a month or so. I'll have to see how that plays out. Someday i will get over there to see Europe, especially the uk. I've been hearing that a lot of your ex-pats go to North Africa. That must be nice. I'd love to do something similiar, somewhere stable in S. America.

i have been to a few places m8. i wouldn't call myself well traveled though
still many places in the uk i should visit more often and some to see for the first time
i would like to go to japan one day

i'm not so sure about north Africa, its normally Spain or Thailand
i have been to Spain and Gibraltar and on the boat from gib to Africa
cant even remember weather its Morocco that's directly opposite but its full of hills mountains and peasants
no hash there got to go much further in
been to France many times for duty free n shit its not nice there i would not advise it
Holland a few times
furthest i have been is Florida lol
i have been to NY too

NY was better because it was not raining all the time and i could kind of understand the people when they spoke

in Florida i noticed anyone over 50, which seemed like most of them kind of spoke like something from the dukes of hazard
also i remember these little lizard things running around everywhere it was a bit of a remote location
but the accommodation was free

peace

Attention, please note:

National Apathy Day has been canceled due to lack of interest
Thank you Commander!
I didn't expect this thread to do much. When i created it I had a nagging feeling the title was off. Sure enough! Still, there may be a niche market for rambling.

God(s) bless all here!

We bought goldfish for our boy for his 3rd birthday. Thought it would be a good way to introduce him to the basics of life, feed, grow die, that sort of thing.
This morning his 18 month old brother fulfilled a plan he's been attempting since Friday. Dropping a ceramic Buddah into the tank and braining poor 'Hook Hook'. I hadn't planned on explaining the actual details of the life/death, brother/enemy cycle this soon. Oh well. Parenthood...

now you can teach him about pickling, here is a recipe...

Pickled Fish Recipe: In Wine
Cut the filleted fish (about 1.5 pounds) into chunks. Make a salt brine by adding 1 cup of salt to a quart of water. Add the fish chunks to the brine in a large glass jar or other glass container, and refrigerate for 48 hours. Drain and add enough white vinegar to cover the fish. Refrigerate for another 48 hours. Drain. In glass jars make a layer of fish followed by a layer of thinly sliced onion, more fish, and so on until each jar is almost full.

Make pickling brine by boiling for five minutes: 2 cups of white vinegar, 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of white wine, 1/4 piece of sliced lemon squeezed (and add the squeezed portion), and a tablespoon of pickling spices. Let the brine cool and pour enough into each jar to fill it to the top. Refrigerate for 7 days. Yes, it’s a long wait.
