Just like the title says... whats your guys thoughts and opinions on the different vegg light cycle?

I now use 20/4..always used 18/6 switched the other day thought I would give it a try. So far haven't really noticed much of a difference.

Great, something I'd like to know but never searched. :peace:
Lol sarcasm. And whatever you want, negligible difference as far a anyone I've ever heard of or seen. I run 24 on when I don't have a time free. I run 18/6 when I do because it's less expensive and my bulbs last longer.

I'm not asking on which one I should run. I'm just asking about your guys experience and opinions with the light cycles... I never really put much thought into it just assumed 18/6 was best cause they needed their resting time. However I recently came across an article that says otherwise.

"They continue to photosynthesize as long as they are receiving light.

The plant's photosynthetic rate determines its growth rate because the sugars are used by the plant to build tissue and for energy. Cannabis under continuous light will grow 33% faster than the same plants on an 18-6 light regime."

I answered your question in my second sentence. They don't need rest, but they don't mind it either.

what I do to save electric . which works big time. and the plants get big fast ! I run my 1000 watt metal halide for 12 hours. and it turns off then the wimpy t5 bulbs turn on for 12 hours only 150 watts. and time timers repeat the cycle every day. saves me about 65 a month , per room . huge difference for me . with to me grows just as fast as 18 or 24 . with the metal halide on . guys try it . dot murder your electric . hope it helps .

What's the two step flowering process? And what's the result?
2 step drop

1 14/10
2. 12/12

Each pheno has a certain flowering sweet spot based on whether it is Sat, Indica or a hybrid. For pure sats I have had to drop to 11/13 to get them to finish

Light is energy. The more they get per day, the more they grow. The amount can be used to slow down growth, which can be important in low height tents

I just run 24/0 then 12/12

I do this because I have a digital timer and I do not trust it so I don't mess with it after I get it set. It has 4 timer plugs always on plugs. I just pull out of one and into the other.

I was looking into the WEMO but I do not think it is upp to speed yet

I use 24/0 because of it's simplicity too (no timer).

A lot of greenhouses use kinddiesel's technique. They have a bright light on for 12 hours or so, then interrupt the night with pulses to keep the plant from "going to sleep".

I just run 24/0 then 12/12

The sun doesn't shine for 20-24 hours a day. These plants have evolved over eons and if you want the healthiest plants and the fastest growing run 18/6 during veg. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about. Any longer than 18 the growth actually slows.

Recently switched my 18/6 veg to 16/8 to slow it down while I was finishing a flower room if anything they sped up, not slowed down.

My go-forward schedule:
24/0 for clones/seeds - 2-3 weeks depending on growth rate
18/6 for 2-3 weeks
16/8 for 2-4 weeks (depends on how long I want to veg for in that run)
14/10 for 1 week
12/12 for balance until last week
11/13 for last week
36-48 hours of dark, then cut'm down

Don't know if there's any science to it but one of my main drivers is not shocking the plants with any change (light or otherwise), I believe plants need some down time, as a bonus my lights will last longer and save a duple of $ in energy usage.

Oh stop yourself with this "in nature" shit. In nature plants don't grow in my closet with nothing but water around the roots.

Im not an expert but I agree that 18/6 is ideal, but i currently run a 14/10 with a very much smaller on during the 10 hr period and im very pleased with my results.
