Fully Automated Rez

Hey all,

So here's my question:

Is there a way to automate the maintainance of a netrient and h20 rez via the use of solenoid valves or something similar?
ie. when pH is too high, the pH meter sends a signal to the valve adding a small amount of pH down, another reading is taken, process repeats if nessessary

any ideas? any electromechanical engineers? haha.

If you look at C.A.P. they got some very interesting hardware involving automation, however its in the $1000s for their lower end automation systems... :(

now we just hope someone smart responds right?!

The smart way to to it w/o the masters degree would be it use a simple gravity feed IV drip with a manual control valve.

If you keep proper records you will know how much solution will be needed in a 24 hour period.

Take the amount of ph down needed mix in a solution of 128 oz of h2o with some h2o2. Play with the control valve to put out 1/2 oz per hour and walk away for 10 days. If you read between the lines this might be a way to take a weeks vacation w/o a babysitter. Make your amount of solution the amount of water needed on a daily basis for replenishment.

Speaking of records I demo'ed most of the free/shareware grow apps and they sux.

The best record keeping method I have found so far is a simple spreadsheet.

Here is a template you can also modify to fit your needs:
