592 Watt Soil/CFL Materials list(with links) needing help...

I shopped around for what I believe to be the best prices on the internet with shipping to the United States. If you find something cheaper, please let me know and provide a link to the source as I want this to serve as somewhat of a guide for those newbs(like me) who are down for a bit of Overkill.

Lighting:

1x 150 watt CFL - 150 watts @5000k Full Spectrum: 8,200 Lumens = $61.12
(http://www.1000bulbs.com/150-to-200-Watt-Compact-Fluorscent/)

Contained within: 1x Hydrofarm CFL Fixture w/Mogul socket = $69.00
(http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/accessory/lights.shtml)

6x 42 watt CFL - 242 watts @6500k Full Spectrum Daylight: 16,800 Lumens = $68.52
(http://www.1000bulbs.com/42-Watt-Compact-Fluorescents/1086/)

8x 30 watt CFL - 240 watts @2700k Warm White: 16,000 Lumens = $29.84 (http://www.1000bulbs.com/30-Watt-Compact-Fluorescents/4010/)

Total = 592 Actual Watts CFL Veg/Flower box = 41,000 Total Lumens.

4x Round 11" Black plastic 7 Quart Planters = $5.60
(http://www.hydroponics.net/i/132031)

2x 35lb bags @ Fox Farms Ocean Forest Organic Soil = $29.90
(http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=GMSOILFFOF&eq=&Tp=)

Total Cost of grow: $263.98 USD(not including shipping) or for those in the EU, probably like half a Euro given the state of the Dollar lately :wall:

My questions are thus, as I am currently waiting for a lot of this to arrive at the safe house...

I'm looking for a strain that will flower well after only 2-3 weeks or 6-8" of Veg growth, and will never reach above 24" at full maturity during flowering. This needs to be a stealth Operation in terms of smell, so skunk/AK 47 are out(AK with its height issues would be out of the question anyway, I could control the odor). Preferably Feminized to save time, trouble and avoid making too many newb mistakes and growing all males after weeks/months of work. I don't know if Autoflowering would be the best idea, as it would be a maiden growing voyage and a plant that pretty much grows on it's own with water and a self timed light hardly seems like a learning experience. At the same time, perhaps a Lowryder strain with autoflowering might be all I could handle with the height restrictions. I could LST or scrog I guess, but I'm mainly looking for a plant that I could automate everything and leave it to grow to it's fullest and still not rise above 24" with a couple inches leeway.

Looking to grow 4 females in a space 3'width x3'depth x4'Height from seed to weed, Pip to bong rip.

The Plan: Germ seeds with paper towel method(works almost 100% of the time with my outdoor grows and I'll stick with it because it is comfortable for me.)

18/6 Until 6-8"
12/12 Until harvest.

For Autoflowering strains, I've read that I should 20/4 from seed to weed as well, which would be nice lol. Set it and forget it, so to speak.

That is all for now, I will of course update this as I progress, but wanted to throw it out there with a list and such so others may take it or leave it in terms of their own needs, or perhaps instruct me in the error of my ways. Either is fine. I want to learn and I want to burn. Holler at yer boy! I'll get some pics up as I build the room. I think you guys will very much enjoy the room I'm thinking about lol.

The main problem I see here is your lighting ideas and you wanting to set it and let it go type deal. CFL lumens do not add up the way you are calculating them. After 2-3" away from the light the intensity needed for growing drops off exponentially, so you wanting to grow with CFL automatically its not going to happen. You need to adjust the height of the lights usually every 2-4 days to keep them at an optimal distance from your grow.

That's not what I asked, but thanks for the info. What I want is a strain that has that ability given the right lighting system. Like if I need to leave for a few days and put a MH or HPS in the room for a bit, I don't want to come back to dead plants. I want something that is dumbass proof. I'm well aware of how the CFL need to be setup as close as possible.

That's why I'd be vegging/flowering 4 females in a 3'x3' space... 6" of space on either side of the pots so I can arrange the lights accordingly. Hell if anything I figure my main problem won't be lack of light, rather the heat those lights conduct in such a small space.

Thanks for the advice though. You're definitely correct. I should have elaborated on how I intended to set the lights up I guess.

+rep for the help

nice list... however if I may give some advice on your lighting??

42 Watt CFL - 150 W Equal - Full Spectrum Daylight 6500K

just get you a few of those.. for vegging.

then get a couple of the same bulbs for

flowering.. only get the lower k temp.

Shoot for around 2200k - 2800k for your flowering cycle.

just my opinion.. although. It is true..
the more lights.. the better!! I agree with
that.

Just my 2cents. :)
peace.

Thanks for the info. I definitely think the more light the better unless I'm having issues with heat/scorching the plants.

I'll upload a shitty diagram I did in MS PAINT to show you what I'm talking about lol.

Everything in yellow will contain lighting. It will be constantly lit from the top with the 125 watt 5000k cfl in the hood to represent the Sun(within 2-3 inches as the plants can handle. The sides and dead center of the 4 plants will be lit with alternating 6500/2700 light in a ratio of 75/25 during Veg, 25/75 during flowering, with a slide briefly in between them. Regardless of vegetative state, the overhead lamp will always be the 5000k 125watt cfl so there is always a fair mix of every spectrum, just like in nature.

Mind the diagram, I know it's shit and it's not to scale lol.

Also, I will be grabbing the Fox Farm Trifecta pack of liquid nuts... I shouldn't start any of that stuff until the plants are out of the initial phase of germ and well rooted yes?

Thanks guys, can't wait.

don't think you're going to find a plant that naturally flowers at 24" other than the autos. 2 week veg and mine were between 2.5' to 4'. I would recommend LSTing young and putting under a screen. Having great results at the moment with that. Just uploaded a few shitty pics of my current. Might want to check out my 1st grow as well, youll see that really bushy closely noded 4" plants shoot up past 2' in no time unrestrained even with great ligth coverage. Hope i've helped and gl! Btw, might want to try homedepot if you have em nearby. I got a 20? pack of 23w for like $25 that have a 9 year warranty...9 year warranty. Basically free lights forever.

I have a friend that has a plant that comes from a giant bag of Sativa he received in Jamaica. It grew in his back yard next to his tomato plant and he had it growing in the wire fence surrounding his tomato plants. I mowed his back yard and didn't even notice it growing there, though I could certainly smell it...

it never grew more than a foot and a half tall and looked like a weed unless you inspected it closely. when we harvested it, it was around 4-5 feet tall, but looked like a bonsai tree. it got a lot of light to the buds and fan leafs. I will definitely consider it. I really want to take some clones from my harvest if it's looking good at that point as well. I understand it'd be hard to do with auto breeds. I have some germed bag seed from the same bag as him, but I'm not sure I'm up to a massively tall Sativa mother under CFLs :P

I think I'll order some Lowryder seeds and work the kinks out of the system with this bag seed. It's already under the system as we speak. Will prolly start a grow journal as time goes on and I run out of weed; finding more motivation to take pics lol
