Life span of a carbon filter?

What is the average lifespan in hours of usage of a can-fitler? Is the life span of a filter effected by the amount of plants in the room? Does the filter help supress mold? How often should I change the outer cover? If I run it static in a sealed room can I get away with slowing the 800cfm fan down a little? Would that help the filter to last longer?
I've had one for a long time but I don't always use it since several of my strains are low smell, and its a sealed room so you really can't smell shit. I'm going to be flowering a bunch of stinky shit over the next few months so I'll be using it again, and I just want to get the most benefit from it.

In a perfect 35% humidity or less environment, 1 to 1.5 years. It goes down as the humidity goes up. In a 65-75% humidity environment, maybe 7 months and you will notice it is losing effectiveness.
Please note, that is running 24/7.

Hope this helps

Ya, ^ this is all correct. So heat will increase plant smell and humidity is super rough on charcoal filters. A lot of people put filters in their attics, and in the summer time attics get hot and humid. But 18 months at a 50 % humidity should be fine.

I recommend always keeping your nose on full alert.
