I think The Who were the best rock band

Title pretty much says it all. We've had this discussion before, our friends and us. Many people say Oh man, Led Zep! But once they used up all the old blues songs they covered there wasn't much left to them.

How do I rate a band? I want to hear style, I want to hear skill, and I want to hear variety. The Who gives all that in spades.

Carry on. :D

I AM NOT ,, I REPEAT,,,, NOT A DEADHEAD ..

But in the history of rock in roll .. I would have to say the Greatful Dead...

Saw the Dead opening for The Who at a
"Day on the Green" in Oakland (WTF was Bill Graham Presents thinking???). IMO, the Dead sucks. For the record, I'm not a Deadhead either. ;)

The Who are awesome.

No comparison. The Warlocks did very little that was different through the years.
Next!
u guys are high
Not I, I am dry, I am not high.
The Who is cool but i grew up on Pink Flyod.
I grew up on a LOT of stuff, including PF. But they grew stale, old, tired, and sour. Not so with The Who!

As a matter of fact, I am hard pressed to find a Who song or tune I don't at least like, if not LOVE.

I've seen PF, I've seen the Dead, I've seen The Who. Can you Guess Who rocked best? :D

Also another great one ... Somehow I don't see one band walking out the winner ..Music as a whole is wonderful who can really say that one is better than the other ...
Indeed, it's rather like picking a favorite color (but, there are so many!). However, I go with your basic classic rock, or any kind of rock, and after hearing and seeing much, The Who reigns supreme for me.

i like lynard skynard(their ballads anyway).. tuesday's gone is one of my fav songs ever.. otherwise avenged sevenfold(their earlier shit..city of evil was pretty dope too) has my vote..

OK... I know I'm going to get rocks thrown at me for this but I really don't like Pink Floyd at all anymore! In fact... when they come on the radio I can't change the station fast enough!

I didn't always dislike them... I think I just went to one too many Laser Light Shows in my youth and got burnt out on them! Same thing with the Doors... I used to like their music... until the movie came out and then EVERY OTHER SONG on the radio was The Doors.... today I usually turn the station when I hear a Doors song.

I still enjoy The WHO immensely ... although I wouldn't call them the BEST Rock band of all time... in fact I'm not sure I could vote on any ONE band as the best of all time. Led Zepplin always gets voted best on every poll I've ever seen.... kinda like the Exorcist gets the best scary movie of all time. At this point I'm not sure it's anything more then just tradition. :D

Once I read that bio on Morrison and realized what a fucking dick misogynist he was, it sorta ruined their music for me. Even though he's dead and all, I can't help but think, "Fuck him!"

Yeah, maybe it's tradition. Wait a minute, The Exorcist is the best scary movie of all time..? What about Aliens? Now THAT was a scary movie. And the original Haunting of Hill House, talk about a mind fuck, DAMN that was scary.

Once Queens of the Stone Age get old enough, they may earn themselves the title alongside The Who. One of my faves of theirs is The Mosquito Song. :)

Exactly what I meant by tradition.... plenty of good scary flicks.... but the Exorcist always takes it in the polls... it's like a tradition... it's just who the votes go to. I've seen a couple that have PSYCHO as the best and I JUST DON'T GET IT! That movie didn't scare me at all... not even the first time I saw it.... in fact I'd call it a downright snooze-fest.

I believe you're referring to "Alien" darlin and not Aliens... The first movie, Alien, was freaky scary. Aliens, was the 2nd flick and was more "Hollywoodized" with Marines and shit.

Interesting, I didn't care for Psycho either. Hitchcock did better ones, like Rear Window.

the remake with shia lebouf is pretty good. the title eludes me at the moment. i think the best horror flick in recent memory is 28 days later. susperia is pretty dope as well
