I think I came up...you tell me!

So, my co-worker fancies himself a pothead, and wants to start growing...He's also a craigslist addict, so he found a used setup on craigslist near his house...He went to go look at it, and it turns out he knew the guy who was selling it, so he bought it for 60 bucks...

Immediately he knew it was too large for his purposes(I don't think he's ever grown before), but he thought of me...He paid 60, I gave him a half ounce of my outdoor....




Came with everything you see(except the little plants...hehe)...Sun System 7 Dual 800w ballast, it runs a 400w HPS and a 400w MH at the same time, came with the big ass hood, both bulbs, and all the cables...All it was missing is the glass for the hood, but you can see in the picture it has the vents in place where the 4" ports are, so I don't think he was running it air cooled...

I intend to get that replacement glass and unscrew those vents to air cool it myself. But I just upgraded my 400 watts of HPS to 800w of HPS and 400w of MH!!!!...And since it's winter, all I had to do was turn my window fan up to HIGH(like me ), and the temps aren't breaching the 80's since I run my flower room at night! Mmm...my new 1200w setup runs coool!

not bad, worth what you paid but honestly i think you could of just doubled the guys money for him(in bud value) and he would of been good.

Yeah, but to a grower, what does a half ounce of outdoor mean? It also ensures that if he comes up on any other deals, I'll be the first person he has in mind.........

And I was giving him 1/8th's for 30, so I DID double his money in bud value as far as he's concerned...Plus, he's my co-worker on the line in a kitchen, this guy is like my partner in crime, I want him to feel like he got hooked up.

But really, the ballast says 2008 on it, so it's a 3 year old setup that works just fine, ballast is even extremely quiet, no audible buzzing unless you put your ear within a foot or two. Wonder how much it was new...

Also not including the bulbs, which I probably need to replace anyway...But yeah, definately a come up, even if it is slightly used, though the reflector looks immaculate, and the ballast runs quiet and cool, so it's all good!

Yup, came up on it the day after my birthday, pretty fucking sweet! It's bright as shit, and I like the "full spectrum" effect of having both the MH and the HPS going.

I think that is a pretty cool setup.

No kidding, I agree! I'm super stoked...I really just need to fill out my room now...I'm a little over 2 weeks away from transferring my next 2 plants into flower. I run a perpetual, and the extra footprint this light adds is what I was waiting for, so I wasn't fully prepared to fill a room that size. Gonna eventually run 9 plants at a time, in sets of 3, the sets being three weeks apart...So flowering for 9 weeks total, and harvesting 3 plants every three weeks!

Good setup for cheap.

So last night was my 2nd night flowering with the new ballast...I have my pre-existing 400w hps, ands this addition of another 400w hps and the 400w MH boosts me up to 1200w of HID lighting, and I'm so amazed at how cool it's been running, even without the glass for thbe hood or any other sort of air cooling. Gotta love winter temperatures, I don't think my 20 amp circuit could handle the AC running too...lol

Agreed, it's nice to see the temps in my room hover around 80f w/everything running.

Yeah, I will probably have to dial back 400w when I hook up my AC in summer, it draws about 400w too...But I should be good till maybe April. I also hooked up an aquarium today, it has a 200w heater in it, and I'm setting up another with a 50w heater...so we'll have to see how my circuit likes it with everything running.
