I'm looking at houses in Michigan and wondering what's going on in M.I.? The homes are cheap. Whats it like their? I know theirs not a lot of work but their must be some jobs and buisnesses right? I know it gets snow but its not the Artic. I heard its a medical state now. Whats going on with M.I. and why is it so inexpensive and what is it like and what are the people like?
Thanks and-Rep for good info

The upper peninsula is beautiful, if you dont mind living kind of isolated. http://www.google.com/images?rlz=1C1DVCB_enUS376&q=upper%20peninsula&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1280&bih=709
If you want to live in the main state,i highly sugjest you stay away from Detroit. Maybe try to find a nice little town on Lake michigan somewhere, i duno how cheap thatd be tho

lol detroit is a shithole.... to the op there arent shit for jobs in michigan.... you can rent houses for cheap has hell in southwest michigan.... 500-750 a month depending on how big.... were talking a house here not apartment!

you would be close to everything from southwest michigan... indiana right there.. chicago is like a 2 hour drive away to

Could you live in the U.P. without driving? could you walk to stores or ride a bike? would michigan let you ride around on a four wheeler without a licence? I know people say theirs no work but if your willing to shovel shit or do anything their must be some work-right? I have been other places with 'no work' and have found while their may not be a lot of jobs or pay might not be great, I have found if your a hard worker you can find work anywhere , would this be true of M.I. to?

LOLOLOL, in the U.P. you'll need a car. Unless you live in town. You should check out the snow totals.

If you're a young, single guy check out Grand Rapids. It is booming and the 20-30 somethings love it.

Why whats up with Flint and Pontiac? I saw places in flint. I'm looking at places where theirs cheap places to live.

Here's the real truth. Michigan is beautiful. Lots of fun in the summer and winter.

Lot's of lakes and streams. The water is cool and clear, the fishing is great. The most shoreline of any state, I believe. Boating is big here, as is snowmobiling.

The people are friendly. But, if your white and in Detroit. You'll be a honky or cracker. Detroit, Flint, Pontiac and Ypsilanti aren't safe. But every state has cities who's core is rundown. Compton, Newark, south Chicago, St. Louis...

I have a friend that lives near me and she never locks her door even when she is on vacation. The most that has ever happened is someone came in cooked up her frozen food and drank her beer. But, cleaned up before they left.

The roads do suck down around the big D or depending on who's district you live in.

I'll never leave permanently, but I do like to get away from the depths of winter.

Unemployment is very high. I'm self-employed, so I don't know how bad it really is. With what I do for a living it would be hard to do it somewhere else.

sure..

weather .. sucks.
women .. sucks.
jobs .. sucks.
roads .. sucks.
sport teams .. sucks.
