Your going to blow your hand off not to mention some pretty serious legal trouble.
I am sure you have seen videos of what happens when one is hit with a 50 cal. Now imagine what it will do to you if you hand fire one.
Recoil man, never forget about the recoil and you hand won't take it.
I suggest for your safety not to continue with this idea. Take this advice from a retired military guy who does enjoy his guns and things that go boom.

So...I started making a 50 caliber zip gun about 6 months ago, forgot, and started again. I used the wrong materials for the barrel and decided its unsafe and scrapped it...
my new project is making a 38 caliber zip gun. Any thoughts how to? Anyone done it?
just make one for a .22 cal......... you wont need has heavy duty barrel.... and in the long run this will prevent it from blowing off your hand, or in your face

Your right, but I didn't want to tell him that. To the OP, 22s are rim fired, not center fired.

also .50 cal bullits are fucking expensive has hell... .38's like 9 m.m is common and cheaper..... .22's you can get a whole brick for cheap has fuck... comes in a few diffrent styles... .22 short, .22 long, 22. magnun, .22 rifle, and .22 hornet....

In one of his other posts he said he *found* 1600 rounds of ammo including .38. I believe that is the ammo he plans to use for his zip gun.

No doubt, cheap enough now days, and most likely won't kill yourself accidentally. Fuck, I live in Canada and I could get a handgun in about a half day of casual searching, even in remote centers.

The actual 50cal rifle carries one hell of a punch for recoil. A zip version of it will not be a gun, it will be a pipe bomb.

buy a real gun from a legitment source go to a gun club learn proper use of a weapon.....lots of ppl there that will help you.....zip guns will kill you not the person you pointing it at............and as far as zip guns go......12gauge shot gun shells..........shotguns arent high pressure weapons and most any steel pipe will handle the pressure...........but its your ass on the line for something like that..........my advice is the gun range......nuff said

You think we are fucking with you, but in honesty we are trying to keep your ass in one piece. What your wanting to do makes it harder on us legal gun owning folks when you get blown up. We have enough regulations and ammo is expensive enough. We don't need more laws or higher taxes for ammo.
