big heads freezeberry pruning

Specifically big heads seeds freezeberry auto. Has anyone taken some of the larger leaves off and had a successful yield still? I'm leaving every branch alone, but the huge leaves that are growing right off the main stem, can they go to allow more light penetration to the lower canopy? Or should...
